Is anyone making money with medication discount cards? I see these at drug stores, doctor's offices, the dentist, etc.
Can anyone recommend any good affiliate programs?
Seems like medicationcard affiliate is one of the more popular ones. Has anyone had any experience with them?
I could probably do all the standard business card distribution ideas... plus I attend school so could probably find some fellow students willing to distribute cards. Then use a website to get more affiliates working under me.
Any input BHW? Something to spend more time looking into or not?

Thanks in advance.

Yes these can be very profitable, I am in that business now, i'd be happy to answer any questions you have.

how do you guys advertise these? hmmm looks like I will give Facebook ads a try with this :)

I process about 4-6k prescriptions a month. 85% of my income comes from straight optimization while the remaining 15% comes from affiliates under me. I believe my program is one the highest paying which pays upwards $2.50 per script. The industry is really great as you are promoting a free product that results in recurring revenue as patients continue to use the card throughout the years.

Just so you know....you are not supposed to advertise your program unless and until your program is approved by a MOD.

Mods, feel free to delete/edit my post. I did not think I was advertising as there were no links, nor was there a mention of the website anywhere, and I apologize if I broke the forum rules.

how & where do I sign up for affiliate program?

Unfortunately I am unable to post the link. If there is a part of the website where this is allowed can someone kindly let me know?

Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I do not have enough posts to send a PM. If there is a certain area of the forum where I am permitted to post URLs I would be happy to.

You will not have url posting permissions for a while as your account has to age some and there needs to be some quality posts before the moderation system allows that.

Please feel free to share your knowledge so that others can benefit from it; I'm sure that you have much to share that would benefit many.

Of course, any self promotion is a no-no but you already were apprised of that by abhi007 above.

Here is some general info:The way these cards work is that each one of them partners with a PBM (Pharmacy Benefits Manager) such as Medco, or Caremark. If you have insurance your prescription plan is likely managed by a PBM. These PBMs have negotiated discounted prices on all drugs and if a pharmacy wants to accept a certain type of insurance they need to partner with the PBM.

All these cards do is give the customer the pre negotiated price that the PBM and the pharmacy have agreed upon. In addition to the discounted rate the patient pays a small fee. The discounted rate + the fee usually comes to less than the retail price, however if it does not the transaction will not go through and the patient will pay the lowest price possible.

Hope this helps. If anyone has any more questions I would be happy to help.

Out of interest I looked up some of these Medical card discount affiliate programs, and I noticed a lot of them selling "affiliate starter kits", that sell websites, banners and a whole bunch of nonsense as a bundle that I wouldn't need. Do you have a place to recommend that just gets straight to the point and doesn't try to upsell anything?

I do, but it would be very hard to do within the forum without entering URLs. I just added requested you as a skype contact though.
