Maybe link spam is not dead on authority domains?

I was just messing about today and searched "make money online". The top result was a video

I wondered how it could be top when it was only uploaded recently (18th March) to be exact.

In AHREFS he has 40k spam links going to the site all of which were built over a 2 week period.

How?

Other than youtube, i am also seeing lot of weebly, webs, blogspot blogs ranking with massive spam backlinks/
