Hi guys :)

My site is a year old and I need to try and rank my article pages which aren't ranking at all. However I don't want to be counter productive with backlinks and harm it with too many...

What is the maximum number of backlinks I should build in a week?

Basically you can't tell. It depends on the case. If the site that sends the backlink is relevant to your niche, then only a couple of links might be enough for your site to rank. Usually I have in mind the backlinks to be 60% nofollow - 40%******** and the keyword I'm targeting won't have more than 30% of the anchor text that I'm targeting.

If your site does not rank at all you should probaly first solve every little SEO OnPage problem you can find and make everthing absolutly perfect. Of cause you entered the site into analytics and GWT and submited the sitemap and looked for possible problems there. ONLY after you ve done all that and are 100% sure that your Onpage seo is just awesome you should think about building highly relevant ******** links :) submit your URL to direcoties, take part in discussion on your topic in forums and have ur URL in signature and post a lot of comments on other relevant articles hat highly rank. If you ve done all that, than build more content and more deeplinks on guestposts

you can't estimate it exactly. but make sure what ever the link you build let it be true and the reputed one. dont build over night, just make a gradual increase on your backlink count. if it is true and free from spam, it will not harm you at any instant.

My home page ranks very well. However no other pages do. Apparently I have no seo issues.

I will take into account the forum posting which I've yet to branch out into.

I just wish I had a yardstick for what to avoid regarding the number of backlinks....

According to google the ideal number is 0 as you should NOT build links at all.

Everyone knows that you can build no more than an average of 16 a day... isn't that common knowledge?

IF your subpages dotn rank at all, the competition ist either to high or your content is simply to weak. You should consider building silos and direct the link juice to the silo and create more extremly good and relevant content, than the links will build themselves

You should be consistent with building links. Do not build 20 links in one day and then just 1 link another day. Build e.g. 1-2 links every day.

The key is to be random. Also if you have a blog every post should have a link to your money url and then throw backlinks to the post.

You can never know for sure.
But always try and simulate backlinks so they look natural. Start with x backlinks, then gradually increase...
