I dont think there is any limit to add friends on yahoo messenger
but there is a limit for the number of people in ignore list
which is 3k I think

There is no Limit.

But You can't add more than 30 people per day..

It used to be 5k, nowadays I heard it's 1k. My personal list is ~960 contacts ..so I'll find out soon.

You can't add more than 800 contact to your yahoo messenger list. I am 100% sure about it.
