Hey guys,

I've put together an on-site strategy where I'm planning to have a 20k article as the content on the home-page.

This will be tabbed with jQuery .etc, and will look and function well.

I'll then be splitting this into 30-40 pages, and having them categorized, and use the exact same content on these pages, but have a canonical tag pointing at the home page from every one of these pages.

My question is, will I get penalized for having so much content on one page?

Cheers,
JC

If if follow you correctly, you're saying that your home page will contain all the content from the sub pages. This is definitely not a good idea, as you'll end up with a site that has a massive percentage of internal duped content.

From an SEO perspective, use the content to create the 30 pages and have links and maybe a short outline linking down to the sub pages, with different re-phrased content as the snippet.

well i don't think that's a good idea.

i use 3000 words, and i think that's more than enough. using more than that would look bad for visitors also.
