Matt Cutts talks about Negative SEO

Just remember this, without us there is no Matt cutts, he needs us more than you think or he would be out a job if it wasn't for us :)

He is an idiot.

He contradicts himself. If you are a "normal mom and pop website, you don't need to worry about negative seo". Then, he goes on to say, "just use the disavow tool".

A true "mom and pop" site owner isn't going to know shit about seo, let alone know how to us a disavow tool.

The disavow tool is nothing more than a smoke screen to try and cover up that Google SCREWED UP.

It is the small 'mom and pop' business web site owner who doesn't understand SEO who has the most to lose from a negative SEO attack. Most people on this forum a) understand how to at least try to deal with a negative seo attack and b) have about 700 different web sites anyway. Whereas many small businesses have all their eggs in one basket depending on a single web site and also won't know how to deal with a negative seo attack. So as you say, Matt Cutts has it all backwards. If they just discounted spammy links instead of penalising them then negative SEO would not exist. It is his fault in the first place.

Google did not screw up. Every time they launch a big update, lots of sites go down the serps and ADWORD profits goes way up.

Of course websites will go up or down with any update. But that's not the issue, it's negative seo. I highly doubt that Google anticipated webmasters would point spammy links at competitors to knock them from the serps. I think they were just trying to get a grip on low quality links, without thinking about the long term effects.

A face i would never tire of slapping with a wet fish, and to be frank, said wet fish would probably be more competent.

I thought that video was kind of informative.. are you saying that -seo works for you?

Whomever 'hired' Matt Cutts as Google's PR machine to webmasters should be fired and fired yesterday.

How obliviously fucking dumb do they take us for?

Pretty dumb, I guess. Whatever.... Onwards and upwards with making money with their ever-so-penetrable algorithm.

Newsflash, people ARE dumb as bricks. Need proof? Just look at all the "whitehat" forums and the gospel they keep preaching. Hell, look here and see people asking the same fucking noob questions over and over, without it ever occuring to them that the same question has been asked before and that there's a search function which could dig up an immediate answer.

Matt Cutts is a Tool.

Nah, he's a smart cookie. And most people who listen to his crap swallow it hook, line and sinker. Even many people on here keep going "Matt Cutts is an idiot" but if you ask them why, they don't have the faintest fucking clue. They only say that because many others do.

The trick is to learn how to read into what he says. More often than not, whatever he says you shouldn't do will work well for you if you do it. Which is the exact reason he's telling you not to do it.

I am one that said he is an idiot, and I know why.

If you go back and watch his older videos, he basically explains to webmaster which link building tactics are "acceptable. Then, the next update, Google targets those EXACT same tactic that Matt said they were "acceptable". That is why I don't like him.

He's misleading webmasters on what is "acceptable" and what is not. Anyone that has been in seo for a long period, will tell you to do the opposite to what he says. It is NOT in Google's best interest to guide you with seo, that is the last thing they want. You are trying to game the algorithm, which is against their webmaster guidelines. That would be like KFC giving you the recipe to their chicken. Never going to happen.

Google wants you to fail so you are forced to use Adwords. Period.

So how exactly is he an idiot? :)

He does exactly what he's supposed to do and judging by the amount of morons actually following his advice, he's doing a damn good job too.
