Massive Money Maker Method During Xmas

That's also something I was thinking. This could only work if you're 100% professional about it and present yourself as a pro photographer (i.e. don't bring your cameraphone to take the pictures).

All I had was a normal camera with focus and Zoom. I took the pics showed them to the People who wanted them.

If they were happy and yes I made them aware of the FEE for pics. they paid me for the amount they wanted and thats it.

Thanks for sharing but this method is truly BIZARRE! Who the hell would want a stranger running about their family home at an intimate time such as xmas taking pictures. Really?!
Oh, yes, REALLY! You and others in this thread are thinking like a bunch of brokeasses. Get your head higher into the stratosphere...

Where rich people are hosting parties for their hundreds of "friends" (business acquaintances) and DEFINITELY want pics of everything to show off to all their newer business associates for the rest of the year, and who will also want lots of copies of the pics because they're so egotistical they'll think everyone there actually wants a keepsake of this "wonderful" event. (So of course you charge 20c PER COPY instead of per picture. Plus whatever it takes to cover the cost of printing them out.)

Never mind your own friends, obviously they don't have the necessary class - or ego - needed to bite this. The nuevo riche, those are the targets. They want to play rich, but they're too CHEAP to hire a real photographer, so they take this "per picture" service. Then their egos get 'em and they end up buying every pic. Go for the same types of people who would hire actual professional photographers!

The only problems I can see with this plan is that most people will hold their parties at the same time of night, limiting you to 1 or 2 events per night, realistically speaking. That and I don't have the "live sales" personality needed to roll with this one.

The concept is great, though, if you hustle the right customers instead of sticking with the people who can't imagine wanting a photographer running around.

These rich people you speak of are going to task their secretary with hiring pro photographers out of the phone directory.

You might even be able to make money off
the people who don't really want the pics but
have no choice but to buy ...

Like a pic of uncle Jim smoking a joint outside or
aunt Sally kissing Aunt Janet's husband in the laundry room

My apologies if I wrongly interpreted the method. Xmas parties ie Work parties and Friends etc , on a night out (in public), perfectly feasible. However, having some Blackhatter creeping about my home with my family on xmas day, just a tad RAPEY IMO.

And if uncle Jim is on parole you could blackmail him... ;)

@Mungus

You're right, this tactic is a bit creepy. However the more I think about it it's not that feasible to make a considerable amount of money with this method in my country (the U.S.). Everyone, and I mean everyone now that I think about it has their own compact digital camera or smartphone with a camera. I don't see how friends, family or even acquaintances at a social gathering would pay me to take amateur photos of them that they could very easily take on their own.

The main problem is you say you take the pictures for free and then charge them $40.00. So you're taking them for a fee not for free.

There is only a fee if they actually like and want to keep any of the photos you took. You're basically taking a bet that people will buy a photo after the fact, which could either pay off or amount to nothing but wasted hours at boring social events.

snap 600 photos at some event
(that's 1 photo every 20 seconds non-stop for 3 1/2 hours) and then who knows how many they will want to buy from you (risky)
maybe they pick out 20 of the best photos you took and give you $4..probably not enough to even pay for the gas it took to get to their house
or say they want 100 of your photos (@ .20 each) ok ..you just made $20 for 4+ hours of work - you could make more money delivering pizza

Hey stranger! Come to my house and photograph my family all night long. While you're at it scope out all my valuables and look for easy ways in so you can rob me later! Lol.

VERY TRUE! When I go out with friends, everyone is getting snap happy after the first couple of drinks , eager to put their snaps up on facebook or whatever, and to be honest the majority do actually take pretty cool photos half the time without professional gear. I dunno, good to think outside the box OP so not hating on your idea, but I don't think it's a workable business model. However, if you have made money from it already, then why stop!? On a bigger scale, there are companies in my city that actually provide the whole paparazi experience, they will get people to follow you and your "entourage" around the nightclubs for an entire night, a really nasty offset of the celebrity culture here in the UK , but tonnes of vain bastards are actually willing to pay for this service, so you never know, there's always another sucker out there waiting to part with their cash.

@ Essence19

Question..Are you still doing it or will you continue this method ? Curious :D

Ok this is a method that I used last year to make some pretty decent Cash.

I earned 1740$ in 3 weeks from this. And thats CASH!!!!!!

You will need a decent Camera and thats it You can Bank with this.

What you need to do is send out a message on Facebook, twitter or email to your friends and Family or anyone you know telling them your Doing December Photography FREE.

You will Take pictures FREE.

When they have their family dinners and parties you are willing to come round and take pictures for them. often people are very busy with cooking and kids to take photos and sometimes they forget.

You Don't charge them per hour OR FOR YOUR SERVICES.

YOU CHARGE THEM PER PICTURE TAKEN.charge them a tiny fee per picture.

what you will notice is that many people will want the pictures and will often be willing to pay small fee for it. not anything massive. i was charging 10$ per 50 photos. so in other words 20c per photo.which isn't bad.

THE KEY TAKE AS MANY PICTURES AS YOU CAN. you can end up with like 300 - 500 photos per event and You can do 2/3 different parties in one night.

200 photos = 40$. if you did that twice a day 80$ a day x 20 days for December = 1600$ for a month. very easy to do

you take your fee and you email them the pics.

the profit in this. that you spend NOTHING.

camera's Already have memory. and your saying you will take pics for FREE.

Many people cannot Afford A PHOTOGRAPHER.When you say you will take pics FREE they JUMP ON IT.

You can twist this method 100's of ways. you can even do it full time.

this can be scaled up into a Full Time Business.

and if you do a massive party for someone well you can charge more per pic.

you decide

A good Way to Make Some CHRISTMAS CASH.

Cheers
