Mass meme accounts deletion

Yes, I have seen Instagram Has suspended 33 Million Followers

That’s crazy. Instagram is cracking down

Within their power of course but they will have to tow the line on being too strict or they will inadvertently drive people away from the platform. Even real users with real accounts are still enjoying the content that these bigger (likely botted) accounts provide.

Dang that’s a good point. I wonder why they are doing all these things all of a sudden.

My guess is they as IG can get some very detailed stats on these accounts and probably know them to be prolific botters. I don't buy into the sob story twitter post the guy posted. I bet IG has enough info to blast em as a botter if they really wanted.

It would still suck to lose those accounts, for sure, but it's hard feel too angry about it when you know you were breaking the rules

Edit: I do wonder if botting accounts, liking, following, etc is really even a negative for their platform as it's basically harmless (as I can tell) fake engagement. Now maybe mass DMing spam ads and the like is something more to be shut down rather than meme accounts.

Another possibility is IG political agenda (ban homophobia, Islamophobia, racism, etc) so they just found a reason to ban an account.
