Mass Gmail Account Creation

So with gmail cracking down via sms verification, how is it that some providers can still provide a ton of GOOD gmail accounts every day? Is there a home brew software code that can automate this process without triggering SMS? I guess I'm missing out on understanding how these guys are doing it...I doubt it's a trade secret BUT, you can only do so much with proxies and cookie refreshes..
