Mass Emailing Advice

Hey I'm new to mass emailing and I'm looking to get pretty heavy into it but it's hard to find alot of good information on the subject. I have a good scraping setup but I need some advice from experienced mailers on suppression lists and validating emails. Since I'm just starting out I'd like to be able to have a cheap option as I know great validation is expensive. I have a mailer, proxies and email accounts but some guidance on cleaning my emails would be much appreciated.
