Alright. It's been a while since my last log in, but I'm here today.
I have a book, Recession Survival Guide, that sold when I paid for an ad through Google. It seems no one at ClickBank is interested in selling the book either. Wait, there is one guy, but he sold only one copy. I made less than $100 for $300 in Google ads.
I have no idea what I am doing. I must be the dumbest guy trying to sell a product online. My budget is next to zero as I'm unemployed. So, what do I need to do to sell my book? How do I get visitors interested in buying my book?
I'm seriously depressed here. What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you need to check your keyword and landing page. You keyword might be expensive and the sales does not cover the cost. It might be your landing page have low credit score.

You can't put a book on Clickbank and expect it to sell well automatically. Many of the best performers on Clickbank were first launched through email lists with thousands of subscribers, which then picked up gravity and attracted other affiliates.

    Two methods you can try:

    1. Contact bloggers, forum or ezine owners in your niche, give them review copies, let them know that you have a product that can make them money.

    2. Article marketing. Write articles or get others to write articles for longtail phrases and submit them to places like Ezinearticles and more. Link to your salespage directly in the resource box. This should get you some free traffic for some time.

Ideally, you should have start building an email list a few months before you launched your product, that way it would have start selling and you might even have a core base of affiliates from which to get some autopilot profits.

And if you don't mind sharing your salespage, maybe some of the other forum members here can offer some tips. Sometimes the problem lies with the salespage and/or the product.

When asking for help it's a good idea to present all the facts.

i.e. Website URL at a minimum
    Keywords used for marketing

Instead of a hard sell on the landing page, you could have an email opt in form. Tell the users you'll give them the 1st chapter for free.. but have them pay for the remaining chapters.

Most people require 7-8 contacts with your product before they buy, hence building an email list is super important.

I'm writing an e-book myself and have decided that hiring private affiliates through forums is the way I'm going to go. It might work for you too.

I'd change the title or even scrap it all together. You want a product that's getting a lot of searches. Re-write it and gear it more towards anything to do with the keyword "Credit". Example: "How to raise your credit score in a recession" or "How to protect your credit score while unemployed".

I have no idea if the 2 examples above are any good but I do know there's a lot of searches and money to be made in the credit niche. Try and aim it at something people are already looking for. Find a hungry market and then make your product. Not vice versa.

    Good Luck,
    gun-shy

Great ideas! That is one thing I really love about this forum, people helping other people. I would there are several JV forums you could connect with in order to gather some steam. JV Village is one that I am involved with right now. Good luck with your product :)

A page without pictures does not sell to me.

    Add pictures
if you can add a presentation video.

And you should be much better.

I did not even bother to read through.

You need to give idea about what your page is about in the first few lines in my opinion and get people interested, then you can go on with all the facts and so on.

Thanks endgame_media, I am new at this. As for keywords: recession, recession survival guide, budgeting, economic crisis, financial crisis, mortgage credit crisis, debt crisis - are the main ones, I kept trying different ones until I couldn't afford the ad anymore.
I have no idea how to build an email list or how much to budget for it, which is the real problem - no one (in blogs, ebooks, so forth) is saying how much money doing any of this could cost or what sort of cost I cold expect. I have no idea how much money I am expected to throw at something and when is it too much and becomes useless, futile.
So, now that I am nearly broke, I am at the end of my rope wondering what I can do.

Thanks to everyone for your help.

You could sell it on ebay if you put it on a cd! It does not cost that much, and would be a great place to test your copy.

You have to rethink your sales letter ... have a look at other ones and try to get "inspired" by them. So you should have ONE Headline ... Maybe something like "Discover the secrets not only to survive the coming recession but get even more out of it ..." (I'm not in copywriting mode right now ;-)). Also you should put a cover of your guide on the site, also some testimonials.

Also (when you finished the rework of the sales page) try to contact some affiliates in this forum ... another idea: try get some bundle deals with other products.

But first, rework your sales page ... I would not promote a product with that sales letter ...

The topic is a good one ...

    ciao

your sales page is tasteless and un-attractrive. As a copy writer I see there are many elements missing from your sales page which grab the attention of the visitors. You must rewrite this sales page. Add an appealing headline, an attention grabbing story and key benefits of your product. All this when written in a spicy manner will surely attract visitors and create curiosity in them to learn more about the strategy you have for them in your product. Although the topic is current yet the presentation on the sales page is poor. I hope this will help you in knowing why you are not getting many sales. Here is an example website which has all the attention grabbing elements and necessary psychological triggers for the visitors http://www.harderectionregained.com
