Marketing A Brand / Generating Sales Question

Hello Black Hat World.

Recently, I decided to just take a dive (or more like a chance) and create my own company in the Teeth Whitening niche. I then went ahead and worked on a "brand" for my product. I recently purchased 100 pc of an item branded with my company name. (Both on the product and the box) and should arrive shortly. (5 - 10 days)

Where I live is a very small community (3,000 people maybe? everyone basically knows everyone) I'm planning on marketing through SEO, Affiliates, Local Newspaper, Business cards in hairdressers, Adsense, Amazon, Ebay etc.

Would you have any advice on getting this off the ground and actually generating profit?

Purchasing 100pcs cost me $1.68 / Item (100 * $1.15 + $53.-- / 100) and I'm going to be selling them for $3.95 each.

I have zero experience in what you talk of, but if it were me, and if I had the extra funds, I would forget about your small community. If you somehow sold to every citizen there, you would only get enough to purchase a 2011 Ford Focus (Homes, Cars and better life = my motivation ).

Use SEO to target larger towns/cities, think "city + teeth whitening" keywords. This way, you're targeting people who are looking for teeth whitening doctors or those whitening stations that I see in malls. The only disadvantage I see is that you may be competing with Google places +7 pack and I don't totally understand that fine line between Local Business listings and just ranking websites locally w/o address. But I would say its worth it if you can rank in a couple of cities . I checked a few cities and the search volume is there, but I haven't checked the competition, you'll have to do that. Hell who knows? You might have the skills to beat WebMD, Walmart, and others for the keyword "teeth whitening" etc, which would be your best bet!

Your aspirations seem to go past being purely local though, since you mentioned Amazon and Ebay. I would probably sell locally with your physical/offline advertising approach and sell non-locally with SEO and online marketplaces, as mentioned above. Then again, I'm no expert

You need to find a way to bump your profit up. Look around on alibaba and see if you can find other products to compliment the ones you've already ordered. Maybe see if you can find some starter kits.

If you can get some starter kits, I would set up an affiliate program. Pay your affiliates like 30 - 50% of your profits so that you can get your name out. Obviously you would need to set up a website and get a simple affiliate script setup. I would also try to get your profit above $10~ so it gives you some room for marketing.

Once you build a name for yourself, start mini franchise businesses. Duplicate what you're doing and than sell the "turnkey" businesses for like $200~ each on flippa. Essentially you will profit from selling the website, and the new buyer will be purchasing product from you. Doing this will help you build a team of people selling the products for you.
