Market Samurai down?

I'm sure if you don't have a cracked version that it checks with their server to determine validity of the license/install before starting the software. If their servers are down obviously the software will hang.

Mine isn't working either (legit version)

In case anyone is wondering, their servers are hosted in Dallas. They use Theplanet.com Internet Services as their provider. And since the team is in Australia, where at present it is early in the morning, chances are they don't know about the outage.

My copy is not working either.

Same here!

I have a cracked version and it loads fine. However it doesn't retrieve any of the SEOC, SEOTC or SEOTCR data (nor OCI data but that is always problematic).

For me, at least, the issue seems to be with the MS in-built proxies. In settings unchecking that option and pressing SAVE gets the data. However you don't really want to do this as using MS via your own IP will probably get you into 'trouble' with G.

I have a legit copy that has the same problem but I am glad to now know where their servers are located. I agree that, because of the time difference, they are most likely not aware of the problem yet. I will check again later tonight (east coast) after they wake up.

yeah they are doing website maintenance. should be k later peeps!

I was literally just about to buy this thing when the site fell off the face of the earth. Suddenly I'm not quite so comfortable paying for a service to run my business that could disappear without any notice or explanation. These guys could just take all our money and go home and there isn't anything we can do about it.
A simple email to their customers isn't too much to expect, instead we have to cruise forums for answers. Not very professional.

I share your frustration but I think you're blowing it out of proportion. Occasional server maintenance is just part of the landscape of doing business on the internet. It does seem unprofessional not to let us know in advance, but it's quite possible that the fault lies with their hosting company, and that MS did not have advance notice of the shutdown.

Also, it could simply have been a crash, which everyone has occasionally. Apparently it was a short term one and all has now been restored. I'd say let's worry about reliability when we see a pattern of unexpected outages. So far it doesn't look like anything out of the ordinary to me.

And as far as them running away with our money.. give me a break.. that could be said about any company you do continuing business with.

Don't be so hard, get a life.
MS is a great product and its developers are nice people.
It's one of the best purchases I have done for my IM projects, money well spent.
Nothing in life is perfect, bad things happen without our willing.

Hi Everyone,

As you all noticed, we had a server crash earlier today. It was in the middle of the night our time and our reporting systems failed so we didn't discover the problem until this morning.

We have tracked down the cause of the problem and are taking steps to avoid this problem in future (more info on our blog). We're also fixing our reporting system!

Regarding concerns over the software not working without contacting our servers, this was actually a bug that worked its way into the software, Market Samurai is supposed allow you access to the software provided you have successfully registered previously. The fix for this will be out next week.

Regards
