"In the wake of recent data theft from Facebook, let my stern warning be heard across the Atlantic, far away in California," the minister said.

"Mr Mark Zuckerberg, You better note the observation of IT Minister of India. We welcome the Facebook profile from India are the highest in the world. But if any data theft of Indians is done with the collusion of Facebook system, this shall not be tolerated. We have got stringent power under IT act. We shall use it including summoning you in India," the minister said.

It was not censored by the government they decided to put that on there on. If the government was able to censor sites that offered adult services I would not be able to access the eros website at all.

Yes of course it wasn't the government, they just decided to close a section of the site that turned over millions for them each year.The issue isn't adult services, it was backpage.

It was their own choice to remove it, the company is lying to get people on their side.

There was no law passed that ordered them to remove it or any court order.

I mean it isn't an ISP block, but it is censorship. And court order? who needs a court order when you can file child prostitution charges, freeze assets and block payment methods to the website?

People thinks that USA is a free country but there is no difference between Russia or China.
Each side have their own propaganda and also Internet control mechanism.
In "free" world Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple decides what you can see or not and this is fact that these companies are connected with gov.
You can call it "The Great Firewall of the USA" like this one in China.

If something is working from abroad, there is an easy way to block it like gambling. Don't tell me that Americans can play online poker? Because what I know, millions of people were cut of from this game.

They don't decide what you can see or not see, they decide what they will or will not allow on their platforms which they are free to do. Censorship would be requirement every search engine to block websites that the government doesn't want.

Blocked from search engine? No that isn't censorship. Censorship is done at ISP level.

Small correction for both of you, when a country blocks access to domain, you get error in connection page similar (unable to connect). This how ISP block works, you can't receive any packets from the website anymore

However, if there is any tyoe of any message, govermental or not, then this is not ablock. It's a court decision to seize a website (you get FBI logo like what happened with megaupload) or censorship of some area (like example shared above)

In the UK you can be shown a message without the website being seized.i.e Worldwide can see it, but we get a message saying censored.

edit: they don't show the site, they instead redirect you to a page hosted by the ISP.
