India has just warned Mark regarding the data theft that was reported last Saturday by New York Times..

The big story in short, With a political party's support, a voter profiling start up has harvested over 50+ million profiles and their private information without their permission. The facebook's tried defending the company that it was not a data breach..

It has reflected in India and it openly warned Mark that India cant tolerate such kind of data breach in the future and he will be summoned in case it happens..

Facebook responded with "We are committed to vigorously enforcing our policies to protect peoples’ information and will take whatever steps are required that this happens".

He's under no obligation to attend and I would be very surprised if he attends the DCMS committee. He could inadvertently say something that could be used against Facebook as part of the ongoing UK and US investigations as to whether the law was broken.

Still got some recovery to do to get back into the 180s.

One thing I am certain of is that Facebook is going to get some unprecedented fines for their mishandling of personal information. Probably on a level that's normally only seen with financial services firms.

It's a PR exercise at the moment.

"We're sorry we screwed up, but don't worry, we're making changes to improve things"

The big question will be at what level within management did people realise that these kind personal data breaches were happening?

If it went all the way to the top, then Mark Zuckerberg is going to have a very hard time to repair the damage done to his reputation. In normal situations, his position would be untenable.

Mark should be careful and respond to goverments. Even my small country (Poland), was close to ban Facebook for blocking nationalists fan pages. Still some people are working to cause Facebook ban. They need only some reason for people.

...and do not say that we have VPS, after Facebook ban, maybe few percent will use VPS, most of people are not technical. If these few percent will see that they friends are gone, they will leave also.

Every goverment can ban facebook in their country, very easy.

I don't know where are you from, but in whole Europe it's possible. It's how Italy, France or Poland bans gambling. There is a list updated by goverment, Internet operator needs to check it every day and add to firewall. That's all. So if some poker site change domain, next day... ban.
