When http://bitcoinmarket.com debuted in march 2010, where there restrictions to the amount of bitcoin that could be bought at the time because of liquidity? Could bitcoin be bought in usd in march of 2010 on bitcoinmarket.com? If someone wanted to buy 900 usd or more in one single transaction, would this have been possible?

But how if it wasnt straightforward like today?
Back then you had people giving away free BTCs for completing a simple captcha, I forgot the sites name but it was something like BTC faucet or whatever.

Even though it was harder to buy (especially larger amounts) than today, there was quite a few options available because a pretty tight community was supporting it.

So for larger amounts what obstacles would one encounter if it was at least 1000 usd worth of bitcoin were talking about? What risks involved with such amount in early 2010?

Harder to buy in large amounts, but how? What do you mean?
