Hey everyone,
I’m looking for some advice on an issue I’ve been running into when trying to reach out for partnerships — maybe some of you have dealt with something similar.
I run a self-hosted video hosting platform that supports monetization, so I’ve been reaching out to webmasters of movie and streaming-related sites to see if there’s any interest in working together (e.g. using our hosting, rev-share model, etc.).
Most of the time, I contact them through the email addresses listed on their sites — but the response rate is extremely low, and in some cases, they even reply accusing me of running a scam.
The strange part is, I’ve tried to keep the emails as clear, honest, and professional as possible — no shady links, no pushy CTAs, no registration requirements. Just a short message explaining who I am and what I’m proposing. Still, people are super skeptical — understandably, with all the phishing and spam going around.
That said, I’d really like to know:
Thanks in advance!

That said, I’d really like to know:
- Are there specific phrases or formats that are more likely to trigger scam suspicion and should be avoided?
- Is cold email still a viable method for reaching site owners, or are there better ways?
- Has anyone here had success partnering with niche site owners (especially in entertainment or video)? If so, how did you approach the conversation?
Thanks in advance!
