I was just about to post asking had anyone actually tried it yet, the reason being is that I noticed what they were doing on X initially was using big influencers to push it, giving only big accounts access.. an old playbook but it works.

I stupidly bought a crypto coin weeks back assuming it was legit attached to them, turned out it wasn't, lony story short I got out before others realised too. I expect they will launch a coin soon though and this is why the hype building right now.

The great thing about DeepSeek and Chinese AI in general is their embrace of open source.

The problem with Open AI and ChatGPT is the fact that Open AI started as an open-source project.

But once they started smelling the money, it quickly became closed-source.

DeepSeek is revolutionary, not because it comes technically close to Open AI and it does, but because of its cost structure.

It's free.

It's open source.

While it's still open to debate as to how much money it actually cost to develop DeepSeek, it doesn't really matter.

What matters is that the code is available for people to innovate on.

It's available for people to build on, and this is China's gift to the world.

Manus AI is just the latest installment of that approach.

I see truly "thinking" AI arising out of Chinese technology instead of closed American or Western European technology.

Now with that said, don't mistake this for me saying that "real thinking" AI will come from China.

No!

There's still a tremendous amount of government censorship and regulatory roadblocks in that space.

What is more likely to happen is that open-source technology will come out of China and then it will be innovated on, to a certain extent, in the United States to the point where it reaches the "real thinking" level.
