WP Save and Backup really works like charm. You don't go trough the hassle, just fill a form old domain, new domain, dbname,dbpwd,dbuser and you are done.

UDPATE: I never manually clone sites anymore. I use WP Duplicator, which lets me clone a site in about 2 minutes and doesn't have all the room for screwing up like manual cloning does.

Sorry for bumping old thread, These information getting more relevant , when we need to ditch a site and start new one (due to penalty or so)

We can clone it and put a robot.txt on old site (so that it is no more crawled and then rank the new site ....
