SmarterEveryDay posted this interesting video in his channel, which might be relevant to the youtube marketers here. By the way, who did this spam? :D

Some fake voices are very good.
I as a non-native speaker wouldn't even understand.

Poor View Velocity Impacts Future Videos
Also Important: View Duration

It's possible this is going to be adjusted. Just yesterday Bloomberg (though after their Apple article fiasco last year I am leary of trusting anything Bloomberg writes about) wrote about various internal metrics being tested beyond just watch-time.

I wouldn't mind that tbh, I get a little tired of watch-time being the holy grail when there are a ton of factors I feel should be included more with ranking videos that would result in a better user experience on YouTube. But I don't work there.

Anyways, here is the bloomberg article posted yesterday: https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...ics-youtube-tries-a-new-metric-responsibility

Watch time is still the metric with the most weight, but many people forget about other metrics like average view duration/audience retention, session starts, session watch time, click-through rate, etc.

But what about% watched vs watch time?

For example I have a 12:50 minute video, with %40 average watched, and the rate youtube suggest the video has already almost flattened so it's peaked at around 100k

Meanwhile others shorter with higher % performed better, but also some with less % watched but higher watch time did better... honestly this seems like a fucking lottery involving CTR, % of watched video and watch time, and you have a short window of opportunity to get lucky during the first ours when youtube suggest your video and if you don't then the video gets stuck with no more suggested views and suggested views is like 80% of traffic...
