Hi guys, how do you manage a local customer? Including website, social profiles and profiles on various local guides

When you build the website, do you give all access to the owner?

Let's talk a little bit about this

If the customer is on a monthly plan that includes hosting etc I usually give him access to the white labeled WP panel. But website design is a upsell, but yeah he has access to GMB and all the citations
 
I give every client, web design services access to their own cpanel aacount, saves me the headache of oh make an email account for me or do this and that. even posting content at some cases is on the customer, or i 'll do it for them for extra $$
 
You should give your client full access to his own property, even if he doesn't use it. If you two ever have a problem, he should be fully able to deal with his property on his own. Be a professional.
 
I give them full access for the branded social media, editor access, a catch-all email, and whatever private emails they need for their staff.

Personally, I never grant cPanel access or admin access. About once a month I'll get someone asking for me to add some nulled plugin, and I can only imagine how many hacked sites there would be if everyone had full admin access.

It's about contracts, not necessarily professionalism.

My contracts state that the property is rented, not owned, so withholding admin access means a client can't just make one payment for a site then jump to some $3/mo hosting. I will give them admin access for a transfer if they choose not to renew, but at that point everything is paid for.

Can you send me the contract? I've been looking into setting a good contract in place and I just want ideas.

I used Google Sheets for a lot of it. Look up some templates and find a good one that suits you. It's a good way of live updating your clients and having them relay messages.

Yes, give all access to the owner, but if it's WordPress you should more than likely charge them for changes.
 
If your renting them then no you don't have to, otherwise you have to. You could still make a contract that limit them though. Depends on your business strategy.
 
If you're talking about web design/development, then I host the site on my server until the bill has been paid in full, then I send it over to them. I hate hosting sites because I don't want to deal with all the IT bullshit if something happens to the server.

For SEO, they set everything up and just give me access.
 
If your customer is fix for long time then you can provide the access but not main access, you have an option to built multiple users for providing access. Simply create user and give him access.
 
Full access. Your clients paid for the services. They own all the properties.
