Depends What Type Of WP Sites You Are Running IMO.

You Can Use One Installation Of Regular Old Up To Date WordPress To Manage Content Across As Many Wordpress Installations/Servers/Sites Etc If The Additional New Wordpress Sites Are Configured To Use The Same Wordpress Database As The Original Wordpress Site Instead Of Configuring A New Wordpress Database.

Using This Method With Individual Site Tweaking You Can Quickly Set Up Thousands Of Wordpress Blogs At Different Physical Internet Service Providers Via Shared Hosting Or Dedicated Hosting, Self Hosting, Etc, Have The Site Admin (or you if you self host) Configure Wordpress To Remotely Use The Original Wordpress Site DB, And Create Thousands Of Cheap Dupe Content Sites That Are 100% Bang On Relevant To Your Niche And Use Those Thousands Of Sites To Start Pushing Your Competition Out Of The Top 1000/2000 Serps Etc.

As You Make Changes To Your Original WP Site (such as internal linking to critical pages) Those Changes Also Appear On Your Other Domain Names So You Can Make/Add/Manage Tens, Hundreds, Thousands, Millions Of WP Sites On Different Domain Names, Make Tens, Hundreds, Thousands, Millions, Hundreds Of Millions Of Links From Hundreds Of Billions Of Pages (stoned on good doobies!) To Your Money Site.

Don't You Just Hate When Someone Flat Out Copies/Pastes Your Content? ;P

So Here Is A 100% Working Way To Manage Multiple Wordpress Sites Easy.

I'm a new to niche sites and am using ManageWP. The whole idea of the service is fantastic and it works seamlessly with hostgator. I was using arvixe before.

It's so easy to use and more importantly support is super fast and effective.
The only downside is I find it pricey too.

Create_A_Network and managewp both can be very efficient for this task. I think you r on it now.

Are you saying that LFE is not worth even with the WPMU and Pligg setup and the ability to post to over 5000 or so sites? I'm asking because I had it on my to do list to actually check out.

But you are saying that it is not worth it??? Because [please fill in the blank].

Concerning, wpdesktop, my next questions are, could wpdesktop replace BlogHatter to do your scheduled posting? Also, does it have the capability to add videos and pics to your post? Or, is it just designed to launch WP?

You wont find anywhere near 5000 pligg and mu sites to post to.

The wpmu sites start to keel over once they get picked up by lfe. Thousands of blogs get created each with their own set of database tables, which subsequently get filled with loads of spam posts. It doesnt take long for mysql to fall over or for the web host to kill it for hogging recourses.

Yeah manage wp is by far the best, but expensive if you have a lot of sites. The remote backup / restore features are great, and are the reason i use it.

Wp desktop is the best value, helps with site setup and can submit spun content which managewp does not.

Unless you want the auto remote backup features (requires pro plan) i would stick with wp desktop.

I personally use ManageWP and it works like a charm.
But I like to work with Wordpress Network too...

It's up to you ;)

wish WPDesktop would work for directadmin as well and not only for cpanel...
