For awhile now I have been hearing that growing by hand is better than growing by using a bot and vise versa. Question is has anyone scientifically proved it yet?

By this I mean set up a controlled experiment with two accounts. Both in the same niche interacting the same in similar numbers posting equally intresting things.

Then we could find out in a month or so if one way is better than the other for sure. If this has been done I would love to see it. If this hasn’t been done I think I might test this out and see for myself.

Let me know if it’s been done or if it’s worth while to try out for myself. If I do it I will happily share the results

Thing is with a bot you build 1000 accounts and end up working the few that do well, humans do not scale so well. In my opinion, there is no need to a/b test, both work, humans can build good channels and software can get lucky.

Good luck with that though :)

Yes I agree with you there. I’m talking more about someone who wants to grow one business acoount for their Shopify or something along this lines. If you were trying to do just 1-5 than it would be a question but in the case of more than 5 a bot will win.

This should be moved to the Journey section.

As of now I’m not taking on the project. If I found that no similar experiment was done I would do this and create a thread there. For now since it’s a question I think this is the appropriate section

That’s what I was thinking.

If you end up doing this, let me know and I’ll close this thread and link it to the new one in journeys.

It will be interesting to find out how things are going

obviously by hand. By hand you see the accounts and you can constantly choose the accounts to engage with.

If you could perform all the actions of the bot manually then it will be surely better. Bots are useful because they allow you to save A LOT of time by managing multiple accounts, scraping, commenting etc

I think it's more a matter of convenience and efficiency rather than effectiveness in this particular instance. What I saying is, you could do just about the same things Automativly as you do Manually , I mean as far as personal Engagement, but at some point the tweaks and updates to the Automation to make it appear organic would be Bordering back on doing it Manually lol ..Of course when we start talking about a Larger number of accounts and managing those well that's when the Divide starts and Automation really becomes a more go to tool, But I was just speaking on your little 2 account experiment. Just my opinion tho.

Ya that’s what I was kinda thinking but I wanted to see if it was already proven or not

Ya I know the power of a bot but people always say Instagram treats accounts that use bots differently so I wanted to see if that was true. Yes you save time but what is the cost of saving time

Yes I agree with you. Like I said to the comment above it would be intresting to see how it reflects results as a whole. Would both keep numbers around the same or would we see a shadow ban occur or something like that. Might be intresting to figure it out

Interested in seeing where this goes, especially with respect to engagement

Yes the difference usually occurs in the ability to Monitor and make adjustments accordingly. Which is a bit easier with smaller projects..That said, The results, though very interesting and I'm sure we could learn a few things, The results, would probably differ 80% of the time if done multiple times because of of the unpredictability of these social platforms and the constant updates and tweaks to the security filters plus a bunch of other factors like the date and timing that certain task are performed and how the Filters are triggering that day Blah Blah Blah lol and this is why people kinda play the numbers game...Like spamming, you come to accept there will be Bans, Penalties and Deletions so you kinda Prepare for those things accordingly . But yeah I get what you're saying, Exploration is always a good thing and something is more times than not gained from that Exploration.. Even if it's not what you were looking for...That's the Beauty of EXPLORATION :)

Good Luck and have a great day My Friend !

A bot does what you write it to do, given that instagram uses an algorithm to detect certain actions which may seem bot like, this comes down to being a matter of..

Quality vs Quantity

By hand gets you quality.
By bot, you can operate right around the clock, gets you quantity.

Both have their own pros and cons. I would go with some thing which fulfill my needs at that point of time.

I feel like the biggest change will be engagement not number of followers

it is proven by logic

I guess but I was looking to see if it was by a test or such

Really good points. Thank you and have a good day as well

Ya that’s what I was thinking but I feel that it might be intresting to see how it all pans outs here. Plus we could find a measurable amount to that quality. If that quality is so slim why even go by hand anymore?

@Clby1111 I'm going to give you what I hope is a friendly nudge by moving this thread to the my journeys forum.

I think its a good idea that you have, and it seems others do as well, so it would be good to see this being put into action.

Thread moved.

Ok looks like I am going to be doing this experiment after all. Thank you for the motivation @davids355.

I have a bot and proxies already so I just need to get my hands on some Instagram accounts. Once I get 2 Instagram accounts I will officially start this up and run the test for 30 days. I will update everyone with the exact specifics of what’s happening and the numbers as soon as the bot starts running

Depending on how fast I get the accounts and how much time I can budget in my personal life, I might try and start with 4 or 6 just to increase the focus group of the results. Will let you guys know

PRoblems with bots is they can't do good links. Good links require contacts/partnerships with other people. The days of blind spamming are gone.
