Have a Wordpress site that has decent security software and uses a few major plugins that are automatically updated. Was hacked so that site was redirecting to various sites. Believe it happened about 5-10 days ago. Noticed a significant drop in search rankings about 5 days ago. Logged into Google Search Console and checked the home page and it listed it as not being in the index and "Redirection detected" Home page was still showing up in search results, just not as high up. Fixed the problem today and requested reindexing and it's now listed in the index. Never had any security issues showing in Search Console.
I know Google just updated their algo recently so I'm thinking that's more likely the cause of the rank drop, but, if the malware issue causing Search Console to list the home page as "redirection detected" contributed, how long typically can I expect the SERP to rebound?
