I built one of my sites about 18 months back and after a few months of SEO on it through mostly forum profiles, articles and blog posts managed to crawl my way to a top 10 ranking on a pretty competitive term. Well a few actually for the niche I target, so I was doing ok

I also had a forum up which I never linked to on the main site. It was chugging along on the backend for a year until I realised I never asked to have it removed.

This forum was hammered by Xrummer blasts. Im talking over 200 000 posts and god knows how many profiles.

So I asked my developer to have it removed, he forgot to use a redirect and I was smashed with crawl errors and my rankings plummeted. Put the redirects in and was back to front page within 6 weeks.

Now I have been monitoring webmaster tools and my site currently has over 250k links to it of which I created no more than 5k. The rest were links the xrummer blasters built to index their links I think :)

Now 99.999999999999% are not going to be relevant, but they have helped my page rank. Its also made me realise that there is no such thing as a sandbox :)

So I guess the question is, what if I did this again? It seems like a great way to get tons of links to your site using all sorts of various anchors which will help with page rank, but also make your real anchor text blasts seem minor in comparison?

good fucking idea.

now just get your site to rank for the forum footprints so everyone who's trying to scrape new forums finds yours quickly and you get on a ton of link lists hah.

Lol yeah I seen a few sites have this happen to, or more likely done on purpose.. worked a treat especially for pharma sites generally makes it more relevant :)

Have you tried redirecting all of the links to another domain for a boost in the serps?

Definitely a new piece of thinking. I'm wondering how you could essentially get in some search strings, just thinking like back in the days for PHPNuke the inurl searches.. ;P

Dont want to do this as the links are all to my money site. In principle though, it does say a few things

1) Google does not penalise you for rampant link building. Maybe it will happen if its very specific search terms, but when they would have been as random as mine were there were zero penalties, only INCREASES in my PR!

2) My targeted link building for new search terms has been much more aggressive and the site is stable as it climbs. Less of the large ups and downs as it dances through the SERPS for those new terms. I dont know if this is because of the PR or because I have so many other links out there using so many other search terms. I suspect the latter?

I think it wont be easy unless you are targeting the niches which tend to spam the most. Gambling, adult, viagra, etc.

Sound great, i would redirect all the incoming traffic to a money making site and hope to capitalize on it.

have a nice new year

My xrumer experience has been generally good, even though the nature of it is very spammy.

So you got a tone of free links, nice...wonder if you could interlink your inner pages, to spread the link juice up to a main home page, which contained some general interest blog with high converting general interest cpa offers on it? Might as well capitalize on the links.
