Does this have postive effect if I also ask the visitors to spend time on the site ? Can this behaviour on large scale trick Google or they are smart enough to detect it ?

If you're doing low-quality bots, then it has risk.

If you plan on doing CTA's, they can be effective.

Couple of years ago I saw some tricksters who kept users not going back to search results(tricking Google thinking they got their answer and increasing SERP), by opening a new tab on the website and closing old one - thus erasing history and possibility to use "back" button. They used other tricks to keep user engaged longer time: subscribe to push notifications, countdowns and other obfuscation tricks.

There were a lot of similar websites on first page of results, but have't seen them anymore

You could make a microworkers job and see how it goes.
In SEO nothing is for granted - you have to do some experiments to test it out.

Focus on providing valuable content and improving user experience naturally for better SEO outcomes.

This is where copywriting comes in.

A lot of people think that when they write meta descriptions, they just need to stuff the keyword in the right place in the description and they're done.

A lot of people do this, and this is good news for you because whenever a lot of people do the exact same thing, that's a tremendous opportunity for you to stand out and get that click.

You have to understand that one of the ranking factors that Google considers is how likely people are going to click on your link.

If you're a good copywriter for your meta descriptions, you're more likely to get your link clicked.

Now of course there are other parts to this equation.

The other major part is that when people click on your link, they stay on your site.

That's how Google's RankBrain technology knows that your stuff is relevant and probably valuable.

What happens after?

That's right!

Google is more likely to give you a higher ranking.

Invest some time in learning copywriting so your meta descriptions are more attractive instead of generic.
