Making money with photography

This method is based off of fanfoto.

The method is to partner with your local communtiy event, whatever it may be, and make money off photo printing comissions. All they did was take a photo of each family that agreed, and handed a business card to the gallery they would appear in.

The monetization on this is huge. With a partnership with printroom, they are able to sell anything from bordered pictures to a ball and glove with the picture on it. A 5x7 print sells for $16 through their store.

This is my plan you can try. Be sure to have a good, professional looking camera.

First you find a large event. Be original. Where are the hot spots where you live? Sports games? Clubs? Concerts?

Partner with the management. It would suck to be booted out. Set up your online store. Be prepared by ordering business cards for the galleries to direct people to. The people being photographed need to know where to go to see themselves. The management will be more than happy to collect some extra income.

During the event, go around and ask people if they'd like their picture taken. Parents love to buy photos of their kids. Be sure to be prepared with lots of digital memory or a way to dump the pictures directly to the internet. Post the pictures online and watch the money roll in. If you do well enough you can start outsourcing photographers and ramping up the operation.

This method is based off of an established company, therefore I am confident it would work. As with all methods, your returns will be based on the work you put in. I have not tried this yet myself.

Now to get a printing studio..

The guy I saw tried to get as many photos as he could, taking them in their seats ad hoc.

can u elaborate more? are u talking about a scopes type thing? or like what they do on roller coaster rides .. where they take ur pic and u buy it? i'm not getting it

Looks like a good idea. My friend has a reliable camera and he is hungry. He has been laid off, because of the slow economy.


Would you be so kind to tell me what should I expect? I mean what expenses and the profit?


Would you recommend to find the online gallery to sell the photos to and let the customers deal with them directly Or will be better to find a local printshop, build the website and start my own thing?

It would be great to have a field test. Please tell us how it goes if you do it. I would start with a managed solution, meaning less hassle for you. There are even small plans for free.

Profit all depends on how much work you do and how well the venue does. Track your results to find what places bring the most sales. If you already have the camera all you would need would be extra memory cards to hold all the pictures and business cards, which are very cheap.

Well I hear you. This is make sense. By the way, thanks for the link. There is a lot of helpful info on that site. I have seen some of the canvas prints. They are from $100 per print. Do you know what can I sell it for?

As far as I understand there are few fees that you have to pay.

1. Membership (up to you, free membership is available)
2. Printing Fee
3. Processing Fees (commission)
4. Shipping & Handling (customer billed directly)

Am I right? Seems might be a good idea to partner up with someone for all the printing needs.
Do you know any good software to use for the galleries, orders....Something, similar to Printroom?

my dads a photographer. but since the economy has been down most places don't want to hire people for advertising anymore

I know couple of ppl who make a living of photography. It is really hard to start out the photography business if you don't have reliable tools. You have to invest a lot of money in the equipment. As far as I heard, lenses are really expensive ($1000-$5000 per lens)

Awesome share. I use to be a portrait photographer for Glam**r Sh*ts.

I can take postcard quality pics with just my S*ny 10MGP digital camera and the standard Carl Zeiss lens that comes with it.

And with the rapid shoot feature I can see making some money selling action pics of High School atheletes playing ball, etc.
