Do you know whether hostgator pays whenever the user has registered from affiliate link?
or the user has to purchase hosting in order to qualify to get paid?

My first advice, stay away.

If you insist, second, change to another hosting affiliate program.

And my last advice, use reseller plan( need some investment).

They have to buy something i.e. domain and hosting for you to get anything.

Dreamhost might be an option also. I've made a little bit of cash with their affiliate program and they've paid me on time so far.

They have to buy with your aff link. Than you have to wait till the commission will be approved.

Hostgator are to much work with regards to there affiliate scheme. Ive had them not approve commissions when i knew for a fact they were real. Also when you get someone to sign up through your affiliate link you have to send them your ID and address which is a big pain.
