I was wondering could I pay someone to write some articles (say 1000 words per article) in a particular niche and put adsense on it? If I have enough articles (say 100), could it attract traffic which may lead to some clicks and hopefully recoup the cost of the articles and make some more? I was thiniking pay someone 10 dollars per 1000 word article. Could this have any traction?

It’s far from that simple. Publishing articles alone won’t guarantee you any traffic nor earnings.
 
That's a terrible idea mate. People don't just start visiting your site, even if you have the best contents in the whole world. I'd advise that you split the money: invest 50% on contents and the other 50% on SEO or other methods of traffic generation.
 
I did adsense about 10 years ago and made a few hundred bucks per month (with exact match domain). I was thanking if my articles are keyword rich and reasonable surely Google is bound to send some traffic?
 
So 100 article would cost u 1000 dollar. Initially adsense pay very low so u may got disappointed. Do the kW research. If it's easy to rank. Go ahead
 
It's doable if you do a good job finding the right keywords with low competition but at $10 a pop, those articles will likely be crap. Also, your best bet is to buy a good expired domain, rather than starting from 0 as the results will take forever with no links.
 
Yes you can, just make sure to target low competition keywords with some search volume

I was not going to buy a domain but use a free blogging platform such as blogger blogspot. Using a freebie means there are no hosting or domain costs. I don't thing something like blogspot is going away anytime soon.

What are some of the tools out there to research low competition keywords and volume? Surely given the internet has been around for decades there are nowadays no low competition keywords?

I don't think blogspot is a good idea at all.I do a lot of kw research and I have yet to see a blogspot blog ranking... A few wordpress.com's here and there but I would not use them either...

I only mentioned blogspot because I did a blogger blogspot with some articles for a low search term (say about 2000 searches a month) more then 10 years ago and did some backlinks. I noticed several years later after Panda and company, the blog was on the first page. Maybe it only receives 100 or visitors a month but it's a start.
 
Adsense is not a great way to make money. It's extremely unstable and fluctuates beyond your control. I'm guessing you're new to IM, and if that's the case, I'd recommend looking at something else. For reference, I have a blog that I started back in 2015 that gets ~10k visits per month and I'd be lucky to get $100 a month from it.

Interesting interpretation. How do you draw the correlation between solid organic traffic, low Adsense earnings and weak SEO? By virtue, a high volume of organic traffic would indicate good SEO. Now, if you wanted to make the argument that the blog wasn't targetting high-value keywords, then sure, I'd be on board with that. It's a hobby blog, it doesn't put dinner on the table. And nor does that blog in your bio link by the looks of it.

If you invest $1k into 100 articles it will take time for all of them to index in Google and attract traffic. You never know how much traffic you will actually get. Unless you keep doing this non-stop, there is a little chance to receive constant large volumes of traffic. AdSense, and most other ad networks, pay on the NET30 basis, which means it will take 30 days after the end of the month to evaluate and release the payment. It may not bring enough traffic to monetize unless you do a lot of extra work to push SEO.

This model might need some changes to bring the desired result.

How many clicks are you getting on average for $100? The problem is probably down to low CPC.
