Making money with a download?

Hey all,

I have a file that is of interest to a certain audience. That file is created and managed by me, and I want to start 'selling' it. But not for real money. So what I did was set up a landing page that explains how to use the file/program and a link to a download page. Right now I have that download page content locked with something by OGads.

Planning to get traffic through youtube as well. I made a video that showcases how the file/program works. Now the only thing I could think of is content locking to make money, but the offers are obviously just a hindrance to the user. They would only complete them to get the file. Is that a problem? And are there any other ways to make money off this?

why not just charge $$$$ for the file ?

Content locking always causes traffic loss. Like may customers return when they see locked content.
Lets hope for the best..
If possible sell the content directly.

That would defeat the purpose. Competitors give a slightly upgraded version of my program for a small price. I distinguish myself by not charging any money. People want this stuff for free. Only thing I can think of is content locking.

I agree with your answer content locking reduces the traffic for sure.

But I have some type of website on which I cant sell the content. Thus I have to rely on of adds.
If you have any better answer let me known.

You could upload this to certain file hosters that pay an amount per per 1k downloads.
In most cases users will need to have a premium account there if they want to download with full speed.

Visitors will likely only visit once, and maybe later for an update. How much would u get paid for 1k downloads for these type of sites? For content locking I can simply go for offers > 1 dollar. That seems more profitable.

I think it depends on the file hoster, some pay about 40$ per 1000 downloads. I think this business only makes sense if you have great upload speed and have a lot of customers or files that have a huge demand. You'll probably earn more money doing content locking if you're just uploading one course or so.

Why not make them do 10 page quiz? Maybe you make more money with ads in quiz hmm.
