Making money through Social Media?

I know social media is usually a top choice among IMers here, and I'm thinking of getting started in it. However, at this moment I can't afford my own domain/hosting, so I'm planning on doing it free.

I saw a lot of methods on Tumblr lately, and most are pretty much running it like an MNS. Do you think it's possible to make at least $10-20 a day off of one blog? How many followers should I expect to have before even making close to this?

Planning on doing some keyword research to start the tumblr (find a topic at least) then going to do some queue stuff. I'm only 17 though, how can I monetize it? (Most affiliates require +18 :/)

Also, is social media marketing starting to die?

PM me and I will send you a link on how I use Instagram. I can't post links yet on the forums. You can also lie about your age. Im 14 and promote CPA through Instagram and so do a lot of my friends. If you are very articulate and know what you are talking about you can sound like you're over 18.

Don't expect miracles from Tumblr. There are a few people who is killing it, but unless you are in the adult niche, and you are lucky enough not to get banned, you'll need a minium of around 20K followers to make 10-20 USD per day. (I am 15K followers, none-adult and I never made more than 12 USD.) Instagram seems like a better/easier option if you are in it for the money only. Get in touch with Alec. Seems like he has got it down.

Yea Instagram is very hot right now, but it has gotten a lot stricter then before. So you need to be smart and research before you dive in. Just my $0.02.

You're 17...find a niche..work on getting real followers (25,000 plus) create social blog, twitter, facebook etc for that niche and don't focus on anything but getting followers for a year..by the time you are 18 you can sign up with adsense and enjoy the money without any work
