Making Money On YouTube Without Monetization

Hi all,

I’ve got a YT channel that because it’s just audio (relaxing nature sound, etc), and the videos are 8 hours long, I can’t monetize them due to having to loop the videos .. meaning the visual content, not the audio.

Which is no biggie, but I would like to have external links on them so I can redirect my listeners to a landing page where they can buy & download my recordings.

I think the way to do that is with Cards (as Annotations are no longer an option) & altho the `add card” button does appear in my YT editor, can anyone tell me if YT allows channels that aren’t eligible for monetization to add external links to their videos?

I haven’t tried it, as I don’t have a landing page set up yet, & I don’t want to waste my time building one if I can’t put external links on my videos .. so does anyone know?

You can attach clickable link in case your account is eligible.

Check advanced features to see where you are. You can also do it under 24 hours using your ID.

If your business is as described you have nothing to worry about. That would be a thing worth of trying.

No, I’ve just tried monetizing & got turned down. Which is annoying as YT is happy to accept money & show crappy BS ads like regrow your gums / hair overnight using this miracle herb, brand new e-bikes for just $30, etc .. but even though I have hundreds of comments saying “this really helps with my insomnia” & “I’ve been able to come off my meds thanks to your channel” .. my channel isn’t worthy.

Are you sure that I have to be eligible? It’s just that my channel does have the “add card” option & when I select it, there’s also an “add link” option, but as I said, I haven’t tried to add an external link as I haven’t a landing page set up yet .. & don’t want to waste my time building one if the answer is no.

Buddy, I was talking about being eligible to post a clickable link. Posting external clickable link is not allowed to every account nowadays.

This has nothing to do with channel monetization, it is a separated thing. Open your advanced features and find out if you can post a link.

Seeing an option to add a link is not enough. You have to check if you can post external links first inside advanced features.

You can also disable Youtube ads over your account. Find that option in settings.

I’ve just done that & under advanced features it says “enabled”, due to intermediate features being ticked & channel history also being ticked, which I think (unless told otherwise) means I’m good to go .. so thanks for your help with that.

Does not true.. u can insert affiliate links on the comments, donations, etc

No with the restriction of the link is really difficult since you will need to put that on the video so people can go thre or use social media too, to move traffic between your youtube account and social media and on social media post the links there seems a better option and also you can get more traffic from social media is a win win, or use ads to promote the links.

The title is wrong

youtube used to allow clickable links on the video but removed it a while back, now its just video tiles. I dont think you will make any money since what you are selling is also on youtube for free.
ive made money without monetization and they have been digital products and affiliate offers.
id recommend giving those a try and maybe getting a decent channel off fameswap.com with 20k subs or somthing . if your having trouble with monetization u can upload one of your long videos and pay for watchtime views to get your 4000 hours and buy the subs too and apply with unique content or use fameswap. good luck.
