What's the point?
Why bother?
You're wasting your time.
Sayings I used to hear quite a bit when I first started growth hacking on twitter.
I remember telling people that I would spend an hour EVERY day (even on weekends) building up my network.
Started off with 1 account and 1,000 followers and now its 30 accounts with well over 500,000 followers.
This wasn't done over a month, it took me a year, 365 days consistently working on my accounts.
The problem with some people is they always look at the smaller picture,
the smaller picture was this - I'm spending 7 hours a week for a month and had ONLY accumulated
1,000 followers. Yes they were right BUT I always looked at the bigger picture, which was if I stayed
consistent then in a years time I COULD have 250,000 followers. I doubled that.
So what can you do with over 500,000 followers on twitter?
Good question.
I can use it for personal gains, be it from selling my own illustrations to helping out good causes.
It's an amazing feeling to be able to create engagement at the push of the button and the best part...it cost's me nothing.
Quick question for you.
How much would you pay to expose your product/ brand to 503,051 followers?
Think about it.
How much engagement do companies actually yield from printed advertising these days - billboards, posters, magazines etc?
They wouldn't even come close to what I could offer for a fraction of the price.
Think about the last time you REALLY noticed a printed advert?
It was probably when you looked up from your mobile.
People don't care about what's happening around them, 90% of the people I see on the bus every
morning are hunched over flicking through there phones.
If you want to engage then this is where you need to target.
So I thought about this...why don't I start treating my header image on my big accounts as a billboard?
It was clear to me - why not start selling some of the space on my design twitter accounts. For $10 I could pin a tweet for 1 week on 3 accounts.
So I did.
But first I need to package this into a tidy little pdf presentation, I need to sell it.
Toot my own horn.
So what would be the selling points of my 3 design accounts.
Stats from just 1 of my design accounts (300,000 tweet impressions)
Well in brief:
As a trial I sent out 5 emails to design blogs/ brands etc. The email read as follows:

I only had to wait 15 minutes before I received the first reply:

So basically a tweet for $10 + vat. It'll go out from three twitter accounts to designers?
If so we're in. Let me know how to get started.

It couldn't be that simple... could it? (see below)
9 views and 1 sale. Not bad conversion rate
20 minutes later and the sale had gone through... it really was that simple.
There are a few takeaways from this article:
The key to my success is I only take on QUALITY, RELEVANT content.
This way my followers don't get pissed off and jump ship.

There are a few takeaways from this article:
- You can make money from pretty much anything, as long as the service is needed. If it's not needed then make people think they need it.
- Consistency is the key to success.
- Don't let ANYBODY tell you that your wasting your time. (not even my mom
)
The key to my success is I only take on QUALITY, RELEVANT content.
