Making Money on BHW: A Beginners Journal

New year - new update.

I think I'd call this one a mixed bag so far. I'd say the tiny amount you pay for a BST is certainly worth the traffic if you have something to offer. For the first month, we're at $1,329.16 revenue and most of that is profit. I took the pedal off the gas a bit over Christmas with a lot of travel so I wasn't actively promoting or stocking up. We'll see how January goes to see if it's a consistent earner or it dies off now.

Certainly a good return on the $130 for the year but it's also one of my most labor-intensive incomes at the moment. Even with the automation, there's still manual work required and customer service on top of that which I don't normally deal with. For the most part, everyone has been great and there's a growing number of repeat business orders but it's still a stream of messages and orders to keep track of.

I normally don't do service-based things for exactly this reason however...

If I dump that profit on content and links for an SEO project this seems like a good way to build up some passive SEO traffic projects and maybe get a good case study going in the process. Maybe try and outsource an entire site from the BHW marketplace and see what happens. So when you see a couple of SEO case studies go up you'll know what's funding them.

In other news:
  • Pausing the eBook for the moment. Something I'll get back to later this month I think but while I have 75% of it typed up I don't generally write in straight lines. It's all over the place and will definitely take some editing before I can do anything with it.
  • Almost ready to launch a second service based BST. This one is also a mix of automated/manual work but it's going to be easier to outsource and might have broader appeal since it's backlink based and not keywords. Not everyone needs more keywords for their niche - backlinks are a different story. It is at a higher price point though so we'll see what happens.
  • Keeping the first BST going. Parts of it are a pain in the ass but whatever comes from it will just get dumped into links and content.
