AI & automation will first hit service jobs. Drivers (taxi / truck / bus / Uber / Lyft) will be mostly eliminated within next 20 years. Construction jobs will be gone and replaced by robots as they are already some robots that can lay bricks for a full house in under 48 hours working 24/7. Accountants will be replaced by software, some medical work will be done by AI and many other professions will be effected. There is no way out of it and the only professions that will be safe are for manufacturing / repair / support of AI / automation. So if someone is working in IT field now I would be on the look out for new AI certifications within a few years, if you're one of the first ones you can grab one of the first available jobs.
My plan to combat future AI & automation is to continue making money, continue getting more real estate and rental income. When the eventual will come I be on the look out for new business opportunities with money I will already have. If for example some day someone will invent a AI self operating food truck and there would be an option to buy it I would jump on it. I want to own AI that is a threat to others but for me it will earn me income instead.
It will have to be both cost effective and proven in order to replace drivers, and only then will it happen if local laws allow for self driving.
A few jobs safe from AI, there are hundreds more that are also safe.
