Making an Amazon Affiliate Site for the First Time.

Hey Guys. As the Title says, Its actually my first amazon affiliate site. Worried about a lot of stuff but I am just gonna swing it. Already have picked up a niche. Fairly Competitive but I believe I can find some good keywords to rank. I am also worried about the type of content I will write. I am not going to outsource anything, but hoping that my English is not as bad I might give it a go with the help of Grammarly. I believe most of the journey's I read regarding the amazon affiliate blogs, most of them were able to write their own Articles. I might start a Journey based on progress but getting to the point in Hand, I have never done SEO before. Have spent weeks reading about it but I finally wanted to give it a go. I am struggling in finding some keywords. I would like to say that my money situation is extremely tight so I won't be spending any money on premium tools. I have already bought a domain and hosting to begin but what I am need some suggestions regarding -

- I do not plan to buy backlinks since most of the Journeys / Post Replies I read never got them. They probably had pretty good content but I think I can match them. I did read most of the Amazon Affliate Guides provided here hence my question does not involve finding a niche or setting up the domain.

What I simply ask is, as a beginner What Keyword would be considered good? I am pretty sure the search volume would be less than 100 or probably somewhere around it. But I am using the free tool called Rank Tracker which I must say does provide a lot of information whenever I type in any competitors domain.

So Finally to the question, The 3 Categories that would define the Keyword are -

# Number of Searches , Competition ( Low, Medium, High ) and Keyword Difficulty. Please Suggest me what I should be looking in the keyword in terms on Competition and Keyword Difficulty since that is what I would be looking for and comparing it with the # Number of Searches to find appropriate keywords. Also If anyone would be free during these days, Can look at the articles I post and give some suggestions in the near future. Thanks!

Usually the way I work is to find a super easy keyword and then buy the domain based on the keyword I have found to build a site around - bottom up approach. You are approaching this from the top down, which is fine but can limit your options.

Anyway, to answer your question. If you are not planning on building links, you need to find the lowest difficulty kw with the highest searches. Then look at the Google top 10 for each of your potential targets to ascertain if there is any competition you could not outrank with no link building. Once you have found your keyword, you are then good to go.

With zero links it is very hard to rank even super easy keywords. Your site will need to be authoritative on the subject and have a lot of content and supporting articles to rank. So be prepared to write a LOT of content. You are also going to have to be extremely patient.

Well my no link building I meant i will not be purchasing any links. I did learn about making web 2.0 myself, so I could make them. I wont be getting any of the juicy PBN Links but i guess web 2.0 would still help to some extent Also the Competition part, it just states that many people are trying to rank for that keyword but keyword difficulty being in the 20-30s means I can do a good job without much link building provided the top 10 guys are easy to out do and dont have good backlinks. Did I get that right?

Keyword difficulty is a made-up metric used to filter massive amounts of keywords during the initial research process. You have to do the research manually before writing the articles. Hop on Google and check out the competition. If you see small niche sites without much quality backlinks ranking, then you've got yourself a winner.

I don't know why you don't want to buy links, you're literally shooting yourself in the foot.

I'd say you have a lot more reading to do and there are great guides on BHW on this topic, so you have no excuse.

I will edit my post. I did not mean the buying link as a statement. I meant it like I wouldn't want to buy links initially until I see some progress.

Personally I start by checking obscure niche keywords for difficulty (Google top 15), then when I find a niche which is easy I check to see if the products are available on Amazon. If they are, I then check KW difficulty and competition for the products.

I always target super easy keywords for new sites. Get them making a profit and then build them up to go after the harder and bigger search terms. Google is slow nowadays with new sites, but they still let me rank for super easy stuff very quickly.
