Ok, so I lost my job and need a new income. I have some saving so I have time to invest.

I was thinking of making a youtube channel with a friend who is a filmmaker.
So we have the gear and he is very good at editing I will be handing the IM and we will both be making the content.

Now the only thing we know anything about is video games, is it even possible to break into the niche at this stage?

If so how long would it take to even make our first cent, want I am really asking is how many subs and view are needed in more to become a partner.

Are there any white hat ways of growing a channel faster?

Thanks in advance.

Gonna be honest with you.
I dont think starting a gaming channal will help you out allot.

What you can try is do something original with gaming instead of just playing minecraft ;p
buy some high quality views and some high quality likes and try to break trough.

Good luck!

You need 10k subs to start monetizing on youtube now (but you can promote affiliate links from day 1)

How fast can you run a mile? Some can do it in 4 minutes, others in a half hour, others never cross the finish line. Same applies to how fast you'll make your first cent.

If your plan is to make money fast to replace your lost job..........i would pass on starting a video gaming vlog. Get an offline job and practice IM in your free time.

The plan was not Minecraft vids as there really is no point trying to break into that market!

The plan was playing random games and having a lot of danter with my partner. Me and him have a great laugh playing games and I sure it would be a good selling point.

I understand it will take some amount of time but I have some income from my other IM projects.
So the long and short of it is it will be far from easy but not impossible?

Anyone think it's worth a go?

My last channel was 1,500,00 over all views and I did not put much time into that at all.
It only has a few subs though.

I would suggest looking at @sovietwomble youtube channel, if you find the right team of funny and relatable people you can easily attract some fine amount of viewers and subscribers.
You can also start doing live streams on twitch and attract some people from there to your youtube channel.

This is not true I only have 3,700 subs and have Adsense on my videos since way below that number.
