Making a "KILLING" with PPC

Well i can tell you that super affiliates are not spending $40. Try 10,000 100k 700k p/m

Haha...yes I am well aware of that, but that does not intimidate me...if they can, I can too for sure.

As the saying goes "the glass is filled, one drop at a time"

thanks for that fact though bro

@mergethegreat

Thanks for suggesting some useful tips bro

Yes guys, I am aware of that I really lost money if I had used real money. But, it was just a test in the first place and I didn't actually expect to make anything. I just wanted to get my feet wet. But, to get $0.01 clicks and make $40 out of it was just something I discovered and got lucky with.

@Herbert
I did not have a quality score because I ran image ads on content network, if that answers your question.

hmmm..no matter how you look at it you LOST money , even if your clicks were .00000001 and got 1 million clicks you still LOST $30

yea i did lose money from a free voucher...so it was a failure...but i also managed to make money which the first that i made online.

Point of this thread is not to boast my achievements but to share yours...I am only sharing my experience here...i want you to share your experience as well no matter if its success or failure.

Target buyer-type keywords - for example, the specific name of a product. Even if there are not a lot of searches anyone searching online for a specific product name is usually ready to buy. Much higher conversions with keywords like this.

I made my first adword campaign today :D failed :( did not get approved :(

so you mean "buy xxxxxx" as a keyword. thats pretty good strategy. thanks

sure thing dude...dont be afraid to post your questions...alot of people are more knowledgeable than I am and will help more

First off, I'm not saying that you can't make money in PPC, but this is just my experience.

I started out in PPC when I got into affiliate marketing a few years ago. I had a mentor who had started a few years before me and he sort of coached me along. I quickly lost my shirt and ran out of money because I guess my mentor couldn't help me with all the adword changes that were coming down the pipe.

After I lost all my money, I would have small campaigns with about $50 here and they never produced any good results. I talked to a few people again a few months later who were making a ton of money with Adwords and they told me to start doing Bizz opp stuff because they heard that it was working well.

I did what they said and Adwords quickly banned my account.

What did I learn from all of that?

What I learned is that there were a lot of people in Adwords a few years ago that could basically just throw crap against the wall and see what stuck. That is how they learned the ropes and they didn't need a very big budget to get started. They were there when things started and that made it very easy for them to take over the traffic source.

When I started into it, there were a lot of policies taking effect from the affiliate before me. I was spending most of my time just learning how to get around policies and cater to Google instead of dealing with conversions and which keywords were converting.

I haven't returned to PPC since I got banned by Adwords because I was just tired of dealing them. I jumped into SEO and that is where I found long-term success.

I guess what I really want to say is that you should look at your mentor and see if they are really working in the same arena as you. Do they really know what is working or are they just passing second hand information.

The decisions I made were my own and I did learn from it all, but I wish I would have listened to someone else when I first started out.

Another thing I would recommend is that anyone deciding between paid or free traffic should go with free first. Why? I personally value my traffic a lot more now that I had to work to get it. It also gives you the ability to find a keyword that is converting with SEO and then just go bid on it in paid search if you want more traffic.

Thanks for sharing your experience bro...first of all congratulations on finding your place in IM and making a living out of it :D

I know what you are talking about...google slaps...I heard it took place in 2009 or something and you could not direct link anymore.

But you could have also tried yahoo or msn, which support direct linking...

Actually my main concern was that I should not get slapped when i ran my first campaign haha

You really gave me an awesome tip of finding a mentor...thanks for that...i sort of have a mentor but not on BHW ;)

Thanks for sharing your experience and i wish you all the best with your ventures.

cheers bro.

Have to tried SpeedPPC it has all including LPB.

Yea, I know speed ppc has that amazing feature...only thing it costs like $400, which I cannot afford at the moment :D

I will get it once I get some more experience and start doing ppc frequently.

i think properly tracking all your conversions down to the keyword level is the most important thing you can do in ppc.

for example, if your campaign has 5 keywords, and only one of them is turning a profit, but you're only tracking conversions on the campaign level, then the only thing you'll see is that the campaign as a whole is unprofitable, and you'll be forced to scrap the whole thing. if you tracked conversions on the keyword level, then you would have been able to only stop the 4 unprofitable keywords while keeping the one that was making you money.

anyway, i highly recommend prosper202 for keyword-level tracking. i actually just recently started using it after half-assing my ppc tracking for 10 whole months LOL. it's making a huge difference. it actually lets you see the exact search phrases your visitors are using to reach your site. and if you're using content network ads, you can do a reverse referer lookup to see the exact page your ad appeared on. powerful shit. ;)

Great tip man

I have heard a lot of good things about Prosper202 and also have an account with them, but I have never used it.

Tracking down to the most profitable keyword is the way to go...actually i think you should always try to beat your most converting keyword for testing, thats what all experience ppc guys have told me so far.

How do you do the reverse referrer thing? can you elaborate on that? This the first time I am hearing this.

All in all...thanks for the info...I will move into ppc once I get time...right now I am in college and gotta concentrate on chemical engineering lol :D

there's a visitor history tab that shows you the date, time, IP, browser, OS, referer, and exact search term of every single visitor that hits your site.

next to the referer there's a link that takes you to the exact page where the visitor clicked your ad.

you seriously see like 500% more shit with p202 than with just your standard ppc engine's tracking system.

and knowledge is everything in this game ;)
