Buy a localised .com for $9.69.
    Create a 1 page website.
Send out a mailshot amd emails to local businesses asking them to rent the page.
Easy enough, right? Probably no more than 30 minutes work from start to finish.

An example I hear you say!

Let's say that I purchased a domain such as ohio-chiropracters (dot) com- Ohio being a local town, and Chiropracters being a "niche" of trade. You could just as well do Tanning Salon, Masseurs, Music-Shop, Resturant, Dentist etc etc

Why have a domain name like this? Well, what do people use Search Engines for and how do they search? If I was looking for a Chiropracter in Ohio, what would I search for? Obviously "Ohio chiropracters"?

Next, create a 1 page website. It should look professional and welcoming - perhaps have some "general info" about Chiropracters and what not. As well as spaces for the "renter" to place their address, contact details etc?

Now, open your local Yellow Pages (or whatever business directory) and get the names and addresses of 20 or 30 Chiropracters and send out the exact same letter (by snail mail and email if they have it) to all of them.

In the letter, we'd ask for them to rent the page for $XX per annum - let them know the SEO benefits of such a domain name - and let them know that you have sent the letter to other Chiropracters in the area. Give your contact details and watch the enquiries pour in?maybe!

    A scenario

Well, you have only 1 domain and site to sell.

Let's say of your 30 letters, you get 5 responses. Only 1 can rent the page for $XX. What of the other 4? Well, they can go onto a waiting list in case the person who is "renting" decides not to continue after his rental period is up. Or?
    Upselling A Service

Now, let's take that same scenario and assume that of the 5 who contacted you only 2 have an existing website. Those websites might not be any good - they could be poorly maintained, no SEO goodness, in contravention of the DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) - or any other multitude of "sins!" lol

It might be nice to point these out and perhaps get a contract for amending those "sins".

So, the other 3 don't have a website at all! But one of them is renting your 1 pager?well, let's deal with that one first. Upgrade the 1 pager into a full site design and chuck in the domain name as a freebie?

And the other 2? Well, obviously we must try to get them to accept a full site design.

Now remember that these 5 are HOT PROSPECTS - after all, they contacted you proving they are all willing to spend money. So why cannot you convert these into paying customers? Certainly no reason that I can see?

Now you can site back and let the renter pay you , year after year. That would be quite nice, of course, but sometimes there is more profit in actually doing some work! ha ha Rise and Repeat.

Hit the thanks button if you like guys!

    Cheers
    Tony
