Make cold sells on Tumblr?

Hi blackhat folks,

I saw a youtube video from J.Crestani he shows a method to make money from Tumblr, to find maybe 50 -100 niche related blogs.
Then under a good Tumblr post you see all the friends (call it friends on Tumblr?) who have liked this post.

Then copy them all (from all the selected niche related Tumblr blogs) and send a message to them with the link to your website or direct affiliate link (?). Also cold email promotion without that these people have opt in to your list.

Some people here will know what video I mean.

For me it looks like cold selling.
Send daily message to 100 people and you will make 1 sale ? Does this really work?
I mean with cold selling the conversion rates will belower than with people on your own list.

Is this a good working method to build email list when you link them to your website or make sales?
Can you promote premium affiliate products in $500 or more price range with this method ? Yes affiliate marketing has it's benefits but it's not my type , I prefer more the "coaching" retainer business model to build 6-7 figures every year.

Yeah there are affiliate marketers who make 6-7 figures every year. But my therory is this is very hard.
Example you have an email list with 5000 leads. So I not believe that you will make sales every month, also that maybe 10% of the list will buy a new affiliate product from you every month, that make no sense, maybe they buy from you again after 10-12 months a new affiliate product or you must promote your own services to them.

I do not know how these people make that amount of money only with affiliate marketing, this is why I prefer the retainer business model.

But what do you think about this Tumblr method? Does it work ?
Does some of you here have experience with this?
Yes it looks like a blackhat method for me to make money fast at the beginning of your online succes journey.

That means only when you have followers, then you can contact them via direct meesages to promote your affiliate product (value first about it,). so with that you will need to send 100-150 messages every week to make 1 sale, so you need at minimum 600 followers to make your first 3-4 sales within a month. When you get $200 commission then you will make $600-$800 bucks a month. Adter that the next month build more followers to make more sales ! Or spend some of the $600 bucks to spend on tumblr ads (they have?) to get more follower in fast time.

The catch is how good you are about blogging in your niche and how good you are to send direct messages.
Do selfie videos going viral on tumblr? Also upload it direct to tumblr or embed it from youtube.
Use the tumblr subdomain or your own domain with that cold sales method ?
