Make a good website, NO TRAFFIC??.... -.-

Hello guys, have you guys ever had really bad traffic experiences when you know your website aint that bad?
i advertise through Twitter (285 followers, even though i use twiends) i made a facebook business add but they charge like 46 cents per click so i gotta invest a lot of money on that which i havent yet, only have 3 likes. the way i am making money is with Clickbanks and other reffering gigs but so far i have only gotten one refferal. I also advertise on classified ad website, not mentioning the websites name. my syte is glidarnet (dhot kom)
i setup some good keywords (about 30 keywords per page) im thinking of investing 75$ on google adwords. im starting to think the government put a hold on my syte because of the (banned news) section. Today i only had 25 visits. Any thoughts? Opinions and ideas are highly appreciated.

No just News, my website is pretty much about all kinds of news to grab peoples attention. i do copy and paste from other sites, but its OK to share news from site to site. you CANT copyright news content.

TBH your website looks pretty blank and doesn't grab attention at all, it looks like you created it in 5 minutes. I think you've got to work harder on the website.. Go and compare your website to other news websites.

There's nothing on the homepage, so it looks like a place holder site, or a parked site. You should have the highlights there (top news in each category).

You should also be aware that you're basically competing against googla news. And one more thing, news aren't really free, as they're not really "real". This is a bit complicated to explain in a few lines, but there's a reason you see the same "news" repeated over and over over different media and networks almost verbatim.

Do you think google adsense will reject me because its a news website?

Oh man you really got a boring website and plus it takes for ever to load dont think people would be interested on your site.I mean all you have is news people this days know about where to find new and updated news..

All i see was text at least add some videos to it if you want visitors to stay longer on your site..Just my 2cents man

Your layout is very boring... and like someone mentioned it does look like a parked domain. Try changing it into something more interesting, if you're promoting news youd probably want your website to look serious, clean and professional. The huge generic news pic on the header is not necessary... if you really want that try changing into a faded background where your logo is, and change that font
Add those " read more" links with the hottest news on the "home" page with links to internal pages (will make your site look more active, and this is good for your bounce rate as well). Make your twitter link clickable. Put a visible widget for your visitors to like your business facebook page.

I noticed you're using analytics, use it to check where your few visitors are coming from - keywords, sources, ....

To me you're focusing on way too much keywords at once, it will be harder to rank loads of keywords at the same time instead of getting your attention centered on something. Not impossible but since you said its 30 per page you're targeting like 300 at once? I see you're going for an authority, so what are you using to update (aka why are your news squeezed on a huge php file)? If you're using wordpress try to split your keywords on the articles and tag the posts to interlink them.

Analyze the top news websites, try to see what's common between all of them and try to implement on your own site. on your case i'd try to improve the design first

The news is all just copy/pasted from other top news websites. It is duplicate content. Google will not value this website, and visitors will not either.

Like everyone said, website = bad. And you expect traffic to flood? lol. Re-do the site and think about usability and friendly layout, look for authority sites in your niche. Learn from them and start from there...

While I do agree with most of the members here that the site is too simple (or even boring), but this was not an impediment for me to go at the video game news section and stop there to read two articles of interest for about 15 minutes, which I enjoyed. A simple advice is to take a good look at other news-type sites and get some ideas for your site design/structure.

The traffic problem might be due to copy/paste articles. Google will hardly give organic traffic for copied content, especially when the site is new, without some spread. Original news sites have their own writers who create original unique content.

Go look at the top 10 news sites in your niche, 5 of them have to be at least running via Adwords campaigns, the others must be the top 5 seo positions. Go to compete and majesticseo and look up their data. Find out if they have specific ad copy, what they do daily and get the hang of it. Find out their feedback, mostly looking for the negative to build your basic structure on (satisfying the negative feedback).

Then, look at how they monetize the site and see if they have any feedback or fund raisers. If not, try membership because most people looking for news will not click relevant ads. These people are cynical and jaded people, they ignore Adsense like the plague. If you want to reach them, you would need to use intense sales copy, so its not for you.

This research should take a overall of 8 heavy months before hand, and then continue on forever until you are making more money than them. If they are fortune 500 companies then your 8 months of work will need to increase to 17 months. Bring in a lot of outside sources and hire some writers. You will also need these writers to cover the niche news events, actually going there for interviews and such. If all else fails go into gay porn, I hear taking it with man on man action pays the bills.

then again ya say my website is bad yet what if it had an enticing design would it still be bad? it has a lot of content and a mix bag of different kind of news, i am currently working on its design making it look more interesting. Other than that i really dont want to waste my time if my site is not gonna be accepted by ADSENSE since thats my first goal.

You have to increase your websites speed too.

Being a web developer and designer myself your website looks liks **it no offense but really you need to work on it. I developed a similar news site for my client nhlalert(dot)com you can do the comparison.

why don t you just try out if you are accepted with adsense?

I revamped the whole website, check it out now! the ONLY PAGE thats complete is the MMA NEWS, i am not done with the home page or even the other ones, just MMA let me know what you guys think!

SEO & Social media are certainly different animals.

SEO remains unchanged; it's still as important as ever to do it... but the problem is more are doing it better, and when that happens it becomes 'the norm', and fewer stand out. Google then raises the bar and uses actual 'on-site content' and 'off-site linked content' (eg articles, etc) to assess relevance to the search phrase used. Certain parts of SEO have much less relevant, if not all together dead.

Facebook has great potential, but again the rules are changing. My FB page receives an average of between 7% to 10% of likes per post (eg 7-10% of the fans 'like' each post on avg). Regardless of this, what I'm noticing is FB is steadily and systematically reducing the number of viewers that actually get to see the posts; regardless if they are high likers or not. Obviously this is all about setting up for advertising revenue; but that could easily be the killing the golden goose!

Content is still king, either on-site or off-site. Carefully written articles placed on the right sites, and marketed via SEO & FB still does the job. At the end of the day; Google puts people in front or relevant content.
