I found this idea somewhere and thought its really a working plan to make money very easily...Suits for offline marketers

MAKE $700 WITH A REFRIGERATOR MAGNET

    WHAT IS IT:

A business card size refrigerator magnet imprinted with the photo, name, address and phone number of a real estate agency along with the name and phone number of 8 different home service businesses, such as a plumber, carpenter, electrician, etc. (see pic below)

    HOW IT WORKS:

Contact in person or by phone local plumbers, carpenters, electricians, etc and offer to list their business name and phone number on 500 refrigerator magnets for only $100 that will be distributed by the realtors of the real estate agency to new home owners.

HOW TO GET REALTORS TO DISTRIBUTE YOUR MAGNETS:

Simply call or visit local real estate agencies and offer to place their photo, name, and phone number on 500 refrigerator magnets for FREE in exchange for them placing the magnets on the refrigerators of all the houses they are selling.

WHY IS IT VALUABLE TO ADVERTISERS:

Advertisers name and phone number will be seen on a constant basis every time the home owner goes to their refrigerator or uses the magnet to hang something up, so when the home owner needs a plumber, carpenter, electrician, etc. they will remember the home services magnet on their refrigerator and will call the service provider listed on the magnet that they need.

WHERE TO GET YOUR MAGNETS PRINTED:

I suggest using an online printer such as VistaPrint.com where you can get 500 full color business card size refrigerator magnets printed for only $99.

    PROFIT POTENTIAL:

8 ad spots sold at $100 each equals $800 gross minus $100 for printing expenses equals a net profit of $700.

    To your success,

    Achu

It doesn't take much imagination to see that this is an idea that would work. Would you close 8/8 businesses with this method? No chance. But with a few days calling, closing 8 should be no problem.

It's a good idea, no sense bashing it without giving it some thought.

After looking at the file, though, I would suggest making it look more like a restaurant placemat ad. The list of businesses looks like crap.

Not the worst idea I've ever read, considering it's already a tried and true method :)

I have several magnets that have coupons from several companies listed on them; obviously someone paid for that. Also, I have a little booklet I bought to fund some school group with coupons in it (also has a magnet on one site). Offer a way for companies you're contacting to publicize their deals to a wide market and they'll jump on board. I would.

What is of importance is sending the magnets out in a targeted fashion and having some sort of proven track record with conversion rates from those magnets.

    Get to work OP

I read this on Warrior Forum earlier today, not a bad idea at all.

There is about 20 other ideas almost just like this posted on WF though, but that's not necessarily a bad thing, more twists on one idea, more money to be made.

This is an idea that is already being done. Some of the magnets that I have received are as big as and 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper to make room for plenty of advertisers. Want a method, use those magnets that nobody pays attention to, to get potential web site, google places, Facebook Fan Page, SEO, and ORM clients. The advertisers have already shown a willingness to spend, now all you have to do is show them how much better your services are than a crummy magnet!

This does work, I have personally done this several times.

Tip: I live in an area where I get a magnet placed on the outside of my mailbox 2 - 4 times a month.

These are people that pay for magnets already and jump all over the idea of being on a referral type magnet. All you have to do is call them, tell them you got their magnet, it is on the refrigerator and you are getting ready to do another run of your magnets for a different area and figured they would like to be included.

You can actually get more money from them than a cold call, they know what the magnets cost, BUT they also know that it costs much more to get them distributed.

If you aren't in an area where they are already being passed out, start with a group of folks to just cover your cost so you will have a real working example to show them when you are trying to get business.

I found out the first run was the hardest for everyone I taught to do this, they needed an example. Now I tell everyone if they are helping someone get started, give them about 50 of your magnets so they can pass them out as examples.

Great thread OP, however I do agree with one of the other posts that the layout is really important. Get a template set up and just rinse and repeat.

    I wish you much success!
