Yup but you can unsubscribe for monthly when you pay for the 1st month. Their service is fast ,good & reliable. I am not trying to promoting here, but just a feedback as it is really good.

Inititally, i experience the same situation as you were. That is when i purchase service for the 2 website which rank 1st and 3rd now in SERPS.

If im not mistaken, we both bought from the same site. Their Ahref/Majestic are always expired and it takes long time for them to replace new account. Plus, they wont entertain any email received unless you go in to the ONLINE Live Chat.

I really suggest not to buy from these 2 sites, apparently they are both same boss as well...But they do offer bunch of tools for a decent price. If you are able to be patient of their service and wanted to use those tools then i think is OK though. But watch out for their latest updated tools on FAQ instead on their sites, is not same anymore! I cant get my refund due to this!
 
Both are Rock solid tools, I use both of them. I would prefer Ahref's over Majestic because I don't believe too much in metrics.

A's crawlers are super fast and will fetch the competitor's backlinks quickly.
Majestic is good with Historical Backlinks (Nothing can beat this feature)

Here is a tip to buy both, Ahref has a 14 day trial - Get a VCC and Buy it. Majestic has a 3 month Deal - Buy it.
 
Ahrefs is best for me... however, i used Majestic but mostly prefer Ahrefs for deep analysis
 
If you're starting out and working on a budget, you ought to start with Ahrefs. But if you ask me, I use both for different purposes some of the users have already spoken about at length.
 
According to my suggestion, better use both the tools. Here i will use ahref for competitors backlinks and majestic is for metrics.
 
Majestic for backlinks data and ahrefs or overall domain analyzation.
Majestic is preferable for link building
and ahrefs for daily keyword tracking and other things,
 
Combined is always better, but I am honestly more used to Ahrefs.
 
i use both ahref and majestic, but i will suggest ahref because ahref backlink crawler is fast.

Ahref use for keyword and competition, Majestic used for domain and metrics. just determine which will suit your requirement for long days.
Both are well. I mostly use majestic only
 
For keyword analysis use Ahref, Majestic for metrics. So use both tools. That will be good for your SERP.
 
Majestic would be sufficient because for more necessity for checking domain and metrics offently.Ahref also good but compare to majestic. Majestic is my choice
