both works best not one. ads give stable money but low. affiliate pays more if traffic has buying intent.

My issue is that finding affiliates is hard from an operator perspective. I feel I have a good offer but the thing that lacks is probably trust.

i’d say start with ads, then bring in affiliates once you have some proof

why not both if you are able to? see what's working much better and put more focus.

I try a bit of both and test what hits. If I had to pick, I’d start with ads for steady income and sprinkle in affiliate links where it fits the content.
I've always leaned heavily into affiliates myself. Ad revenue is a volume game, and unless you're pushing serious traffic, the payouts are often peanuts. With affiliates, you can make way more money with less traffic by focusing on buyer intent keywords and high-commission offers. One good sale can easily outperform thousands of ad impressions.
