Hello

I have a new client and some of the inner pages are showing up on google for the keywords. But the main url clientsite com is not showing up on google. It is not even showing up for the exact name of the business.

Any help on how to figure this out will be greatly appreciated!

Interesting, can't say for definite without having a look at the url. You could PM me if you want me to check.

Some possibilities, these are from my experience:
1) If the site is new and the site url comprises of "unknown" or "unrecognisable" words like a brand name, then it can take a while. It took us a while to rank for our own name "Mondovo" because Google thought it was a mis-spelling of "movado" watches for the longest time
2) The site may be too new and have too less backlinks to rank for anything substantial for the homepage
3) Just check your robots.txt to ensure you're not avoiding the homepage by mistake
4) Similarly check the meta robots text on the page to ensure there is "noindex" on the page
5) Ensure there is no "link rel="canonical"" that points to a different url

Check the URL link is do follow or not. If not make it do follow. Then you need to resubmit your sitemap to the google console.
And also make your site URL SEO friendly.

Thanks for all the quick replies. I probably forgot to mention that this is not a new site. The site was down for about a year, but had pretty good rankings previously. I'm not sure if someone did a bad SEO job on it, but the link profiles from majestic etc don't look too spammy.

Also it might be worth mentioning that whoever previous SEO was done all to the main url which is the one not showing up, not to the inner "keyword" pages.

In addition to the above, I would make sure that the business name is written in plaintext on the site.

If you would like to share the website URL then I can study and might come up with a solution.
