I have an aged authority site with many daily active users and a large opted in list. It seems that our mail server has been blacklisted so our mailouts and news letters for this site are going strait to spam! Not cool as these people actualy when they open them tend to take action.

What is my option? migrate to a new server with new IP?

No need for a new server, a new clean IP is usually enough.

a new IP will be solution but you also have to improve your email quality, providing unsubscription link, avoid "!" in the texts (see spamassassin rules) . Also make sure that the rDNS of your IP points to your domain

A server usually don't get to blacklist. But the domains or emails address does.

How do you know that your mails goes to spam and not inbox?

If a server/ IP is blacklisted then the email will not be delivered. It will be rejected by the receiver SMTP. Even more... If a IP is banned the receiver smtp server will refuse the connection.

If your mail goes to spam this mean that you have a problem with the domain or the email. Some of this doesn't pass the spam filters.

My suggestion will be to make some tests with a new email address and then with a new domain. Te be sure that test are done properly send a mail that you will be sure that the mail content/headers will pass the spam filters.

We have tracking and monitor all click actions so we have a fairly good idea.

Mail is not my area really but I knew there were some experts on this forum, nice one on the spamassassin rules, pretty sure if that check list is followed everything will be fine.

Thanks for all the tips!

Not really... It's sure that following the rules help but there is something called user history that, it's the BODY error in the spamassasin score... Than can also get you in to trouble... and you must change the email/domain that you use to avoid that.

As mentioned.. if you were ok with the email content then test your email and the domain...

Are you sure the IP is blacklisted and there's nothing related to the content of the emails. As suggested, check spamassassin rules, if everything is ok just change the IP and try again. Good luck!

Did you run a spam test on your email text? may be something in the newsletter is tiggering it as a spam.

There are many variables why emails go to spam.
-No spf/dkim/rdns
-Too many messages from 1 IP
-Repeated messages
-Too many bounce email
-Your links are flagged as spam
-Many people mark your messages as spam
-Your server or ISP ip address are flagged as spam.
-Your email server is new (reputation)
-Html on body of messages
-Bad keywords on body of messages
