I want to list a website in google places. I cannot afford a virtual office which costs $100 a month. I can only afford the mailbox stores which cost like $15 a month. it is my understanding that most mailbox stores are blacklisted and will not verify in google places. is that right?
I found a mailbox store that seems to work because I googled their address and there are a few businesses that are listed at that address in google places. So the address must be good, right?

This store is clearly a mailbox place, it says it on their website, and on street view anyone can see it's a mailbox place. So i am a little nervous doing this. What happens if G finds out it's not a real office? will they deindex the site?

another option is to send the post card to my house and set Google to not show my address, only phone number. but I don't really want to do this.

I am interested in this too. I did not know that you can hide your address in G+ verified place.
Is it possible to hide address and show only website and phone number?

you can use the same addresses with No worries, Google can not know (or at least no one check) what kind of a business the is under a specific address, in one building with the same address you can find many types of businesses so..

Yes you can, but there is an effect on it ,meaning Google likes listings with an exposed address better then the ones with a hidden address, but it's not a big deal.. let me know if you need help with that. places4lead at gmail
