Hello & Happy Friday,
Does anyone have any experience with the Magic Jack? Specifically does anyone know if it is possible to have more than One Magic Jack per computer? In other words If I had 4 different user profiles set up on a computer, could I have 4 seperate magic jacks plugged into that computer and be able to dial out on all 4 lines at the same time?

Magic Jacks FAQ's says it's One Magic Jack per computer, but I wanted to know if anyone had any actual experience Testing out something like I was trying to describe above!

Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thanks & have a great weekend!

I have one, never tested it with more than one per computer tho. sorry I am no help to you on this one.

However maybe if you had a powered usb hub it might work out for ya.

Thanks Fulleclipse,
I actually found an article out at Hak5 which breaks down some really interesting options
with using the magic jack! Thanks for the info!

I tried installing MJ to my laptop after setting it up on my main PC. All the prior information was saved on the MJ HD and showed up on the second computer (same selected number et al). One interesting item is that the MJ allows you to select a number from around the world---you can be in NJ but have a New Zealand number (or vice versa) if you want.

Thanks Fulleclipse,

No problem glad I could be of some kind of help to ya :P

Now if there is a way to change numbers frequently with it that is something I would be interested in. If you and CL accepted the numbers would be a great way to make some PVA's :P

Because you can take MJ wherever you go and use the phone number assigned I guess you should be able to have and use multiple MJs on one PC.

You'd have to unplug and plug another in but I think it would work. Maybe will take mine to my folks tomorrow we both have and I'll plug mine in see how it works.

I've been using MJ for almost 1 year, for the most part it's great.

I have used it on 4 different computers, mainly as a test... Work fine... just plug it in, wait for it to find the info, then you're good to go. I've also tested it at different locations, same deal.. all good.

I haven't tested multiple MJs on one computer, but seems it would work by unplugging one and plugging in a second one.

You should be able to just use a router but not sure simultaneous operation but MJ is a great tool

you can't have multiple numbers at the same time on the same magic jack....they allow 1 free phone number change..after that each change is a 10 dollar charge by credit card. The previous number will be forwarded for 30 days.

You must reinstall magic jack after each phone number change.

Broadband is a must...trying to use it with wireless works but not well

I use virtual machines for multiple magic jacks....install them separately on each one....voila

I used to change the numbers to verify my listings on google :)

but yeah you should use virtual machines to install them separate (I use to pay them to change numbers -- yikes)

now I use skype :)

I have a need to use several magic jacks at once, what is a virtual machine???

Thanks

Thanks Mokai,
So I would just need to format a computer, partition the hard drive, then load a separate operating system on each partition? Can you point me in the direction that I can find the download for the VMWare?

Thanks

VMWare has free evaluations at www.vmware.com.

Virtualization can be a very confusing thing to learn and configure initially. If you want I can assist you via phone/instant message chat and if you would like to donate to me for my time that would be appreciated.

I can't edit my previous post but is there any specific reason you opened this in offline marketing? This should be in the lounge I think.
