So all these threads about Cold Calling got me back into cold calling to get new clients for web development projects. I made my first call today at 10:40 AM -- I targeted a newspaper publisher -- and when I finally got around to proposing the offer (of me redesigning their websites, corporate and the online newspaper), he just laughed. But then he "got serious (if he wasn't before)" and told me that they were already undergoing updates for the site. He then pointed me to the IT guy who was looking for designers, etc. for the site and gave me his contact info. I'll be calling him later today after my driver's license exam (crossing my fingers haha)! Usually I'm ultra persuasive in real life & over the phone, so it wasn't really a problem (plus my personality's really friendly so that helps too). But the tips given to me by BHW really helped, including 7878's thread with the pictures saying "Is this how you want to be represented???" Thanks BHW, I'll report back on whether I make the sale or not (it's going to be a $3k minimum job so it'll be pretty hard)!
