Hi everyone,
I made my first sale this week on CB, and wanted to share it with everyone!
I'm new to affiliate marketing and monetizing sites, i've been more of direct product/service seller to clients/the public, as opposed to promoting other people's products/service.
Anyway, I decided about 2 months ago I would look at building some easy income which requires no maintenance, I don't usually have alot of time as I'm always busy on other projects, but decided to read up on another thread on BHW which inspired me to give things a shot - the thread I read is here
Now if I remember rightly, the thread discusses creating several articles on the same product you want to promote, then placing them on articlesbase, and some other sites like squidoo etc, and letting them rank naturally. Volume is key.
I thought I would do it differently, and have 1 site promoting 1 product, and as I didn't want to 'waste' my time writing 5 articles for each product incase affiliate marketing wasn't for me, I choose 2 products, which had a low gravity, low competition and a sub 1000 exact match search volume.
Here was what I did:
- Find an article related to the topic of the product from ezinearticles. I then spun this and took a unique copy of it.
- Create an account at weebly, and create a free hosted blog with the keywords in the url. For example, if I had choosen the keyword blue widgets today to optimise for, I would of created either bluewidgetstoday.weebly.com or blue-widgets-today.weebly.com
- Create a basic site, make the theme match the product (use any of their free templates), paste your article, and link to the product within the article, and at the footer of the article. I also included a relevant picture within the article to make it look alot more natural.
- I then did a scrapebox blast, and took another ezinearticle, and spun/submitted it via AMR.
Now, with the above alone, the site was ranked page 1 within 3 days, and has stayed their for 2 months! It has fluctuated, and dropped a little more recently, however never fallen off page 1 on google.com for it's keyword.
So, 5-6 weeks went by, both sites I created were averaging 10-20 visitors per day each according to weebly stats. I had some hops through to the affiliate product pages, but no sales.
So, I took a look round the clickbank interface some more, and noticed you can build ads in their system based on keywords, similar to how adsense is. You load up the ad builder, type in blue widgets today, and it creates code which you insert on your website. CB then displays other relevant ads for other products related to the keyword you inputted, which you automatically become an affiliate of. I did this on both sites, and this week i've made my first sale of $19.xx
I took a look at my stats for the past month in CB, and noticed despite having all the ads on each site, that there were only 3 sites I was sending users to, the biggest being the one I made the sale at. So, as a test, i've now taken down the ads from CB on that site, and changed all links to promote the 1 product i've made money from. I also put a nice call to action at the top of the page, beneath the header image but above the article, along the lines of 'IF YOUR LOOKING FOR THE FAMOUS (insert product here) - CLICK HERE'.
I've also loaded up both sites with adsense ads too, to see if I can make some money from that. The keywords were never chosen for their adsense worth, however both have over $1 CPC.
So, what do I plan to do next?
Like I mentioned above, I didn't want to spend my time creating 10-20-50 websites, promoting different products, incase affiliate marketing wasn't for me. By creating 2 sites, it's allowed me to see how quickly I can expect some sort of return from each site, what site of formula to follow (site layout, ranking, keyword choosing etc), and to decide whether I think building more sites now is worth it.
So, my plan now, is to look for another 10-15 products on CB in the month of August, and spend a few days creating some free hosted blogs, and doing the same steps above. As the keywords are low volume, and I personally believe your leveraging the authority of the blog site itself, your able to hit your blogs with scrapebox hard without worrying. I did exactly the same for both of mine, and they have ranked without any hard work.
I believe if I were to build a strong set of perhaps 20-40 sites, and spend more time picking the right products (I actually spent 5 minutes on their site when I choose the current 2), I would be able to see a nice steady stream of easy profit coming in
Here is my plan for the next sites:
- Choose a product with decent gravity, that has search volume on google.com
- Create free hosted blog as per above, quickly customise site with colours/theme, paste new 'unique' article, a picture
- Create clickbank ads, and place them at the top and bottom of the page. At least with these adverts, if the product I am mainly promoting is poorly converting, these may convert better, and I may find a better product to promote instead
- Blast the site with Scrapebox and AMR, and perhaps later on a big social bookmark push too.
- rinse and repeat
